Strange rev issue in neutral

Hey everyone, I've done my best to look for a similar issue on these forums with no luck. The issue I have is intermittent but happens in a variety of situations and engine temps. When im in neutral and give the Car a rev it sometimes seems to bog down. As if it's in limp mode or over rich. It will usually go back to normal within a few seconds. It may be nothing but it's not something I've ever seen happen on my other cars. It's a 2016 with randys bespoke tune. The car does this on stock tune, cobb ots, and randys tune. Any ideas??

I have also experienced this. I feel like the engine's computer tries to limit revs while in neutral to prevent possible damage to the gearbox/clutch. Although that is only a guess.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. It just seems strange how random it is. When you experience it have you noticed any commonalities?

I was trying to rev the engine by giving multiple taps of the throttle in an attempt to vary the engine speed rapidly. It seemed to rev high upon the first tap. Then, after releasing the throttle and tapping the throttle again, it would bog down/become unresponsive. I haven't tried this again since that time.

Yeah now that you say that tapping the throttle seems to trigger it more than anything else. As long as it's normal behaviour I'm cool with it. Thanks for your input!

It's probably launch control. If you rev the car with the clutch pedal pushed in, the revs will limit wherever the launch control is set. Usually, 2.5k-3k.

Without the clutch pedal pushed in, it should rev to the high idle limit(rev limiter).

Wow...I kinda feel like an idiot now. Lol I'll test that theory when I get out of work but you're probably correct haste. Thanks! I'll let you know if that is indeed the issue.

Same thing happened to me after I installed some bolt-ons. I had never revved the car freely before that, and I had the clutch pedal pushed in...I was in WTF mode after that. [:p]

Yep, that was absolutely it. I frankly never use launch control as I fear it's very hard on the drivetrain. Its included in Randy's tune though. Thanks for the help!
