etune vs ots maps?

Is there anyone that has a dyno comparison between stage 1-2 OTS maps and a freaktune or panda tune of the same setup? I am seeing that you can get tune discounts if you buy your AP3 from them so it could effect where I go for my AP. I will probably go from stock to stage 2 in the summer so i have a little time to cross shop.

Intercooler, catless downpipe, stg3 OTS tune, then E-tune. Everything else is just a detail for a fraction of a HP. Intercooler is def #1 on the mod list after the AP3. The tune or downpipe or any of that other stuff should really start entering the thought process after words. Buy an intercooler that will fit your ultimate goal, then go from there. Buying the DP, catback, intake, etc etc etc is all very little gained vs cost next to the AP3 and intercooler. Esp with Summer coming up.

I wish someone would do a real full on set of datalogs for 2-4minutes running the car hard stock. Then do just an intercooler upgrade and do the same road/log again, then average the HP over time against each other. I bet the intercooler would add 20-30hp a average over time vs simple looking at one gear pulls or one 20-120mph run.

This ecu just turns down power so much with heat ( rightful so, not complaining ).

not really what I'm asking though. People are talking about getting 16-20hp boost from a stock car with some of these tunes while the cobb ots tune dose not raise power. Do any of the cobb tunes raise boost? I know their stage 1 tune dose not seem to raise boost. I know an intercooler is on the short list and I know what the gospel is from cobb about stages. on the other hand there are other people doing tunes and putting out more power. I am not sure I will do a downpipe any time soon. Just a tune, filter, and intercooler this summer.

There's a lot more to a tune than just raising boost, and there's a lot more to numbers than just the max gain. I see where you're going with it though.

Buy the AP3 from the tuner of your choice, just let them know that you don't want to do the custom tuning until you get your parts. Most tuners charge a touch-up fee, so if you did a custom tune now and added the FMIC you would most likely be out a little more money in the long run. If you order the device they will probably send it to you with their base map and you could run that or the OTS maps until you purchased and installed your parts.

Ya got me there, lol. Sorry.
But yea, the stage3 adds a little boost. Holds 14-14.5 psi or so to redline.
Sometimes I forget that car had a 6500rpm redline stock. I push it to 6800-6900rpm a lot for testing/logging.
On a stock turbo, shifting in the 5500-5800 area is better than spinning the motor faster. So to really say what "redline" is, sorta delends on the tune and who you ask.

You have access to E85?
Best bang for little money on this car to me is huge intercooler, AP3, AP3 and E85 mixes on a pro-tune.

The cobb OTS tunes have a little room left in them, but they are very very good. Very little peak power gained, but the car drives extremely better, its not even about the power gain.

I have done a great deal of homework and have been self tuning a standalone ECU for years. I would like to see 20-30 more hp from the car and am really looking forward to the added torque that comes so easy to this motor. The low end power of this motor was a prime selling point for me so I will keep the stock turbo and stick with light modification. I feel I can get to a stage 2 tune for just the cost of stage 1 plus 200 for an intercooler and be good for a while. I was just intrigued by the posts of E-Tune results and want to know how they are dynoing compaired to the OTS maps from cobb. I don't really need a rundown of mod progression Just some info to help me decide which vendor I should be looking at since some offer Tune discounts if you get the AP from them. Although with the discounts available on the AP3 from some places it might end up costing the same either way. Regardless I need to sell my turbo Miata before I can get into modding too serious.

I just want to see what these tuners are capable of over the OTS maps

My etune from Randy at Mountune gave me 26% faster acceleration in 3rd gear than the Cobb OTS Stage 3 map. And we're not even done refining it. 93 octane.

This was measured by examining time between rpm from logs both from Randy's tune and an OTS map log I had archived.

Wow 26% seems like a big increase compared to a Cobb stage 3 tune thats pretty impressive

Cobb tunes have always seemed very conservative to me. I am new to the Ecoboost but I have never met a stock turbo car that your couldn't up the boost a couple psi out of the gate on. I am starting to wonder if these pro tunes great HP gains aren't mostly just increased boost which is why they are posting more power than the cobb tunes since cobb dose not change boost on stage 1 and 2 maps from my understanding. would be interested in seeing boost numbers in the upper RPM ranges of these maps compared to cobb OTS Tunes.

In my Cobb Stage 1 91oct I've seen 22.76psi for for boost, Im pretty sure that's more than stock.

According to Cobb they say for stage one boost will hit 20.5 and taper down to 13.5
