Hey guys, [wave]

I'm relatively new here, but I came across this really great article breakdown the complete 1.6L Ecoboost so I thought I would share. I hope this helps some of you guys out!

That's very helpful, thanks for posting. Most of the components look to be fairly robust. I posted in another thread that this engine is used almost stock in the Formula Ford racing series, which led me to believe it was pretty tough.
The main concern I saw expressed in the article was that the crank is cast, not forged, as is apparently more common.

The issue with the article is they assume the first weak point is the con-rod. The truth is that it's the piston head... Also, 400whp is not a "new height" for the FiST.

What a great find!

I love their "plastic IM is cosmetically challenged". Whole engine is cosmetically challenged, but the inside and parts are elegant. Except cast crank, I thought those were Model A stuff.

I did not know that the stock crank damper might be inadequate for racing. Anyone know why?
