defective stock motor mounts?

car has 1500 miles, its stock.

If I shift hard into second I get the common motor hitting into something bang sound.

Yesterday I was rolling up my driveway at a slow speed (5MPH) and I slammed on my brakes... for giggles.

the motor clunked into whatever it hits as if I shifted hard into second. I'm thinking these(this) car has an actual motor mount issue. I feel like it shouldn't be doing that this easily. It will also bang if I'm accelerating 50% or more throttle on a bumpy road.

is the motor that shoehorned into the car that the clearances are so little? Do I have a broken mount? did ford really make the stock mounts this poor that they really need to be changed out to fix something that really shouldn't be necessary to fix?


to add... I run a small home improvement company. we have a few Ford Transit Connects our sales staff drives. I drive one every now and then, when I'm idling I feel the A/C compressor shaking the little transit. in the fiesta its smooth as can be. I guess they made the NVH such a priority that the mounts are too soft.

so stock motor mounts use this proprietary material, we know it as marshmallow, and they sometimes refer to it as cotton candy internally. its features is to allow enough play on the engine to mask any performance potential of the car, and make you feel like you have HP increase when upgrading the mounts.

Okay all kidding aside, there is a thread about replacing updated axles, and hundreds if not thousands of threads on RMM, I recommend checking out some filled motor mounts from frankie fiesta (I think he has some back orders) for a budget friendly option, and any name brand for a pricier option.

I personally run a CP-E RMM and is very happy, even with the increased vibrations, with the results of little to no banging. The stock rear suspension also knocks a little when moving around uneven pavement at very low speeds.

Just upgrade your mounts. Sounds like you drive your car too rough for the stock mounts.

I have never had an engine mount issue until the fiesta.
I'm going to order the Cobb RMM from modbargains.. Still not happy though.
maybe an AP will make up for it.
