Has anyone thought of, or done, an engine swap into the Fiesta ST yet?

I said a while back that a 2.0 swap would be awesome. Slap an LSD on it and your done. Other wannabe know it alls may try and flame and say it's not a good motor to swap with, they can suck it. Lol

Engine compartment is so small, not sure what swap would be worth the trouble. Anyone measure the frame rail distance between each other?

I've considered swapping the 1.6 FiST engine into something else, but never swapping something into the FiST. I'd really like to see the FiST's 1.6T swapped into an Escort GT or a Festiva..

Looks like someone has done it already. Not an ST, but a fiesta non the less.
This is a brilliant build. So it looks like this is required for it to work:

- 2.0T motor (of course)
- Custom motor mounts
- Custom drive shafts
- Custom wiring harness
- 2.0T ECU
- Injector Control Unit
- Custom intake
- Custom IC piping
- Modification to sub frame

Engine swaps make sense in a few applications that fill these basic requirements:

1. There needs to be enough room for the donor motors. (That's what makes S2000's and Miata's a great car for it)
2. The original motor could have a fatal flaw, or simply have problems making power or reliable power etc.
3. The transmission should be generic enough (or RWD), so that you don't need a lot of work creating a adapter for it.
4. Things work WAY better if you swap in a N/S motor into a N/S configuration likewise it's better if you are swapping a E/W motor into an E/W configuration. (Makes sourcing a usable transmission easier too)

FYI The newer the car/engine it is the harder it becomes to pull off ESPECIALLY if you want to retain the OEM functionality of all the sensors and OBD2 functions etc.

I just simply don't think it makes sense for our application. Just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt.

it's not a good motor to swap with
It's not a good motor to swap with

And some people gotta be douchebags, cuz they think it's cool.

Why do you guys hop in threads and try to talk crap for no reason?? The thread is about engine swaps, not flaming people and debating what is/ or who's idea is better. Lol grow up dudes, it's 2017. [thumb]

I don't see how it's "retarded" to want to swap an engine into a car. The 1.6 on 93 tops out at about 330whp. I want about 500whp.

In either case you would have to build internals also....... why not just build the 1.6 ? Problem is that it's 2017 and way toooooo many bull shit talkers on forums that make post like this and never do things they post about.

You're so misinformed that it's actually funny.

You can get pretty close to 400whp on the fiesta motor with just aux fuel and a big turbo.

To get 500whp out of the 2.0 you are talking fully built engine, aux fuel, big turbo.. probably like another $12,000 to put a 2.0 in the fiesta and make it 500whp.
