Did my first track day, sharing my experience

Hey guys finally got the time to hit a track day with the fairly new fiesta.

Did some basic prep before hand and also picked up a set of Falken azenis 615k+ So at least I wasn’t showing up on all seasons lol. This was my first real track experience and my first time taking the fiesta out (I’ve taken my old mazdaspeed protege out to a smaller track multiple times). The car was definitely fun and I’m glad I upgraded to the falkens before I went also. It took me about 2-3 sessions before I really was able to start throwing the car around and feeling comfortable with how much this car likes to rotate. But once I figured out to just stay in while it rotates my times kept dropping. Over all this is one fun car to track and I’m happy to say it made the drive out and drive back with no issues.

So far my only mods are Megan racing coilovers and wheels and tires and the car felt great. Anyone have any suggestions on next mods? Thinking it’s time I pick up a Cobb tuner now[wiggle]

Nice- to even be on a track with a WRX and what appears to be a Miata out there is pretty impressive.

Whose flairs are you sporting? Also - the wheels, especially the offset?

Thanks but I think that picture is deceiving lol

The flares are custom ones I made based off fury motoring flares but not as wide. I can post a link to photos of the process if you’re interested. The wheels are 16x8 +7 offset custom ordered from klutch(SL2 model) to fit the cars setup

Mine is in the FM shop now, getting the flares and the Klutch wheels. I do have a WW BBK, so that presents a challenge with respect to the offsets that can be used.

Ya the wheels I run leave very Little clearance for larger brakes at that offset.

I do love the whole stance of the car. I want to get fender flares soon to widebody the car. It'll definitely take some balls to cut the factory fenders but thats far in the future for me

Yeah - maybe not so much ballz, but experience. That's why I shipped my FiST from Houston to LA to get it done by someone who HAS this experience (and, I am assuming here, balls).

Ya it was very hard for me to do it, I still had dealer plates when I cut into my car

Is LA is Louisiana or Los Angeles? What shop?

Los Angeles. The FuryMotoring shop. They've done a bunch of FiSTs, plus wheel fitment can be resolved.

Great picture!

When the weather starts heating up, you're going to want/need to upgrade the radiator and/or intercooler (I did both). Heat soak is definitely an issue during track sessions -- you'll lose boost and your lap times will get slower.

I replaced my radiator first because the car would overheat by the end of a session. The radiator solved that problem, but I was still losing boost. I'm happy to report that after upgrading the intercooler, I'm no longer losing boost and my lap times are faster and more consistent.

My next upgrade will be a new tune with an Accessport, and I think that's the right order if you're tracking the car.

thanks for that list. I tried to keep watching the temps because i read that on here (overheating). Luckily it stayed in the mid to high 70's all day and I had no issues.
