Rear camber and toe adjustment, the hard way but more accurate and no cost, sort of....

Bringing back from the dead =o)
came across while looking for camber/toe shims.
the setup will definitely work on tarmac car till the beam is bent.
And it is easier to bend than many might think and i guess lots of folks found that out by now.
my car is a stage rally car and i have yet to see a Fiesta rally car with rear beam NOT bent.
it sucks that lots of modern day cars don't have factory adjustment options.
Do engineers live in a perfect world?

I have not been on the site much so not aware of bent rear axles but if so then I would highly suggest buying the -1.5 non ST axle instead of messing with shims that are more complex to do right than it might seem and probably still not available.

The only catch, want to run 9" wide wheels, might be a bit tough to get enough clearance for the tires unless cut out the fenders and weld in spacers, add flares to cover them.....

If I had not decided to get out of tracking the car due to several issues, mainly eyes being injured, I would of gone all out, cut the fenders, add flares, ran 15x11 wheels with 275 slicks:)

For those wanting a really wide track width, zero offset wheels, etc......I consider is a must to either raise the inner pickup points on the front control arms or lower the ball joints with extended unit. Even with my setup there would be some decent gain doing either one and my car is incredibly fast in the corners as is.

also have n/a Fiesta front axle to fit gravel suspension. ST won't fit
picture of it being tuned on a dyno and running Pacific Forest Rally 2018. DNF'd due to co-driver's motion sickness
last picture is my buddy's Fiesta turbo AWD with 2L Cosworth engine and all the bells and whistles.
had 600 hp with no restrictor. now i think 400 with 36 mm turbo restrictor.
he's being building it just a bit over two years. started one rally: ditched it on second stage.
yep, that's rally...

Cool pics! To bad your co driver got sick, motion sickness is a hard thing to deal with, best I have found is taking the smallest amount of medication that works for you awhile before the event, I forget what it is called but pretty much no drowsiness at all. Wish I had it during the two typhoons I had the unpleasant pleasure of going through in the Navy. Terribly sad about your buddies car but as you said......it is a tough sport!
I meant the N/A rear axle used on the ST to get more camber so when you add more upfront you are more balanced front to rear than keeping the ST axle, far easier than the long hours it took to modify my ST axle to get -1.9 degrees, target was -2.0 but was close enough.

My co-driver always did take med's. patch always worked well but not this time. he got sick by the end of 4th stage.
put a fresh patch and took some ginger-ale for the next day but in the middle of the first stage got violently sick again.
skipped three stages and then with the remaining two we decided to go again,
it was a long stage, and in about 10kms into the stage it hit him again.
so we just limped back to where we started, missing the last one.
he's now building a rally car it's his 97 or 98 JDM EVO and i'm sure he'll be fine behind the wheel.
i did probably 50-60 rallies as a co-driver but never had motion sickness.
And i was in the Army but also spend a few months in high seas with ship constantly rocking in every possible direction lol
but didn't feel a thing. ever. my wife on the other hand can't even sit in the back seat for long.
I guess it's just one of those things: either You're born with good vestibular apparatus or train it.
and better start young! :)

Are those Speedline Corse 2118s, or Braid Acropolis wheels you are running on your car?

And yeah, I could NEVER EVER be a stage rally (or even TSD rally for that matter) co-driver, reading pace notes while bouncing around inside one of these things at 80+ MPH (I would 'paint' the gutted interior with vomit! [vommit]). [:(]

Here's the story of that "orange monster" :):
he bought a body kit from M-sport. paid a shitload of money for it. the engine, drivetrain and all the suspension components came off his Escort WRC built in Europe in 90 something and he couldn't register it in Canada or the States
because she didn't have a VIN.: it was specifically built for WRC.
Ken Block wanted to buy it a few years ago but i think they didn't agree on the price
Anyway he stripped the car and sold the shell to UK and the rest went into this build
When almost completed he went to Ford dealership asking for sponsorship but they turned him down
he got angry and removed all "Ford" logos and emblems and painted it "Audi orange" so it wouldn't resemble Ford :LOL:
PS. You should definitely try TSD. it's no different than daily drive simply because the rule is:
Rally speed has to be 10% BELOW posted road speed.
I did a few TSD's here in BC and my best result was winning T-Bird in 2016 with a record score and it was tons of fun!
And i mean it!
I'm running BRAID wheels and other sets are n/a Fiesta and Focus rims. they can take a few bumps =o)

I purposely got back into working on the ARA rallies (after being away from it since the last of the SCCA sactioned Pro Rally events in '04) inspired by being able to see a fully prepped Escort Cossie blast down stage roads once again.

The last time before last year's NEFR that I got to see one driven down stage roads 'in anger' was back when Stig Blomqvist actually came over to drive Carl Merrill's Group A/converted to WRC version in memorial to Carl, in the 1999 Maine Forest Summer Rally.

yeah it's a shame that beautiful car got destroyed.
never a good idea to change gears during cornering and he should've known better.
this is my friend's Escort when we did Redneck rally. The car was flying/ literally lol. it wasn't like a rally rally though, rather a rallysprint but we managed to clip a tree on the last run when it started raining and left rear tire had a street tire on the rim.
still we won of course because there were only 3 real rally cars and they were no match to Cosworth power and handling.
the rest were old VW's owned by farmers who were drinking beer and smoking pot all night long. it was fun though. he had to replace a q-panel and it cost him $2.000 shipped from UK. USDM panels are kinda "slightly" different. who would've thought huh?
PS. what did You cut knuckle mounting plates with? i think i'm going Your route for changing camber.
it's almost 2 degrees now. would't You love to make it adjustable? i think with a little creativity it's doable lol.

it was built in Europe to be a WRC car. doesn't even have a VIN #. only on rollcage.
n somehow ended up in the US but owner couldn't get it registered and my bud bought it and brought to Canada.
funny he took it to the office but they surely refused to register.
he brought it back home and minutes later bunch of armed to the teeth cops showed up.
he had all the the proper papers and they left visibly disappointed lol
i had an idea of buying 90th USDM Escort and retag it so he could compete here but he was like... uh what if ...blah blah blah
anyway that's why he had to sell the shell to UK last year.
he never had problems with it originally but after dropping things into Fiesta had to re-do turbo because it melted,
did something with steering pump and now sent all the suspension to UK for rebuild.
he also had this European Ford Sapphire set up for hillclimb:
properly caged, with proper suspension, brakes and everything in between. also sent it to Europe.
too bad i didn't take pictures of it at the time. it was a super cool car as well.
Escort was without a doubt the fastest and best handling car i've been (sort of) co-driving lol
the stage was only 3.5 kms long and one didn't really need a co-driver but was required by the rules
and i used my truck to bring that thing to the "rally".
PS: still can You just use a cutting disk to cut it?

^^^HA! THAT was going to be my plan to register (obviously, only doable in a non inspection state) an Escort Cossie here IF I could ever have afforded to have one shipped over.
I wonder if anyone has ever successfully done the VIN plate swap with a USDM Escort and gotten away with it. [dunno]

Utah must be VERY lax in their registration/inspection processes, since that is where Ken Block has both his Cossie, and his wife's R2 car registered. [wink]
(Although he might be using some sort of 'temp' exempt registration, since that is how all of the people using full R5 Fiesta stage rally cars as 'road legal' <-LOL! for the transits.)

I think imported purposely built race cars can be registered in Canada.
At least I read about it a while ago when was importing JDM's.
But they can't be insured and specific rally insurance is about $3.500 per event which is quite a bit (for me anyways lol)
VIN plate swap is not such a hard thing to do, but it's a bit harder to weld in that part of the floor (or a firewall) where the hidden VIN is lol.
I don't know if it's true or not but some one told me R5's in North America run as USDM cars which is totally illegal
because 2dr Fiestas were never sold here thus can't possibly have USDM VINs
easy to check out by a scrutineer at any event though.
