Somehow I've never noticed but how much of a pain in the ass was sanding the grill down?

The process wasn’t terrible but the mess was unreal. I used an electric angle grinder with a sanding wheel. Well..maybe six sanding wheels. I left the grill fixed to the bumper too and just put the whole thing face down on a Harbor Freight moving blanket, making sure not to move it around. The plastic dust and fragments are absolutely everywhere and impossible to contain. I should’ve had my wife hold the shop vac next to the sanding wheel while I was progressing. It’s worth the effort for aesthetics alone.
