After I got my axles replaced (scraping/clunking sound when rolling to a stop) my car pissed trans fluid all over the ground ( think the seals were green + oil colored) . I took it back and in ~1.5 hours they swapped the seals (different color now, I think yellow-ish) and they aren't even damp since the swap.

Still get the scraping sound when rolling to a stop though :|
It would be nice if we just knew exactly which seal to use instead of having to roll the dice on whatever the repair shops decides to put in.

Whatever the green (ish) ones were, they leaked over almost half a quart of trans fluid sitting in my driveway overnight.
The tech that swapped the seals in like 1.5 hour for a leak-free installation indicated that the "wrong" seals were installed, but the other tech said they were the seals that came with the "kit" - I have no idea. I had a delightful sandwich and coffee and farted in their showroom floor Ford GT while waiting for my repair.

There are a few seals with this part but we would be unable to supply them separately and we would be unable to provide part numbers as we only have access to our own internal part numbers.

Hello everyone

2017 FiST purchased new in May of 2018 and currently with 15k miles of 75 mph highway commuting. I looked under the car today and I found a wet passenger side axle. Driver side appeared to be dry. Car drives fine but I seem to have some random minor vibration from the suspension or else I'm just an old frail man struggling with the harsh ride. I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow for an appointment for the seals.

Update: Service tech @ Dealer looked at it and said it was 'bad' and they ordered 'all the parts needed to fix it'. I have no idea if that includes a new axle or not. Once parts are in, I'll go back to the dealer hopefully early next week for the repair.

Update, mine looks even worse than the pictures above. I need to schedule to take it in, my RMM is soaked in gear oil.

Sorry for the delay. I took the car back to the dealer when the parts came in on 10/21. Dearler tech diagnosed with chassis ears. Dealer tech removed axle, replaced bearing and seal and installed some new nuts and bolts.
Dealer Installed:

BE8Z 3K093 A: Bearing
YS4Z 3N324 AA: Retainer - Bearing

W520102 S442: Nut Locking
W713640 S437: Nut
W709618 S442: Bolt
W520203 S442: Nut - Hex
CV6Z 1S177 A: Seal Asy - Oil
XT M5 QS: Fulid - Transmission

I haven't been under the car since then but I'll check it out when I replace the oil next time.

Dealer got back to me and said they "approved" the repair under the $1900 warranty I regretted purchasing.

Apparently both seals were leaking, and one of them had just been replaced by them.

So here to settle this. Techs fault they leak. My car has had seepage since new but just recently I'd call a bad leak. So I had one of my trans guys do it and one held but the driver side was worse then before he touched it lol


Now I'm at a new dealer and had another guy here do the one side. Been a couple thousand and clean as can be down there. Finally had enough confidence to swap in the good fluid now.

I think this all comes back to the Tech who installs them most of the time. As my tech told me...mine have been leak free since he did it. But man that leak is horrible gtx3067!

It's lucky I checked. I noticed a little oil when I first bought it. I could've burned up my transmission. I did notice it was getting a little tougher to get into gear.

Got the car back today. It definitely was low on gear oil, the shifting feels so much slicker now. They say they drove it to make sure it stopped leaking, but I'll crawl under there again in a few days to make sure.

They billed it as a $550 service (but was covered under warranty, I didn't owe anything more). Does that sound right for having to replace seals on both sides?

Parts cost for me from a dealership is approx $120 for all parts, including fluid. Let's say $130/hr labor @ 3 hours for the job, not too bad. My wife is glad I work on our cars myself.

I'm actually tackling this job myself VERY soon. Passenger side seal has been weeping for a while, but now has drips coming out of it. Driver side is starting to weep, so I'm doing both at the same time.

'15 Fiesta with 80k miles on it.
