Meh, just saying that once you disable the Sony processing you get a far more natural sound and pure output and from there, new more efficient and better sounding speakers go a long way with the power it has too. In any case, you should do this first before adding gadgets you may not need, depending on your tastes. Sure, if you are a 1% audiophile, there's always more you can do, absolutely, I just don't see the need personally and disabling of Sony processing and far better speakers should always be the first place to start anyway.
I don't find the sound quality suffering much with the stock processing. Most of the controls in the Fiesta Titanium I've been renting from time to time has all of it's sound controls centered, with maybe one or two ticks to the right for treble.

Given that the car is rented often and my sound settings haven't been changed, I might be onto something. Of course everybody ears or should I say how you were taught to listen to music is different.

Factory speakers are cheap and have low sensitivity. Then again Infinity speakers sound better but have even lower sensitivity (in the lower 80's db 1w/1m). These are popular upgrades in both cars.I find Morels to be overpriced for what your getting. If you're going down that road, Audio Fogs are worth a look but again I find it hard to spend nearly $500 for seperates when Hertz lower end products work extremely well and are very efficiency speakers.

Also adding an amp gives you some protection from overdriving the speakers in the form of a high pass crossover.

More power and a crossover when turning off the factory protection and sound shaping is the correct move. I'd take it even a step further and look at Kicker's Key amp which offers auto EQ using a mic.

The system also suffers from a lack of deep bass. When I play songs that should pound, it doesn't... The stock speakers do a decent job but a sub improves sound so much more than some of the other options mentioned

No, I appreciate the details, my entire point, for this specific thread. was just to touch on how ForScan can help... And I still stand by my point that disabling ForScan, alone, leads to a huge improvement in sound quality, I can testify to this specifically... With it enabled the amount of clipping is almost enough to just listen to AM talk radio instead of music. Now, I just literally bump bass up one or 2 notches with treble and mid being much clearer and balanced sitting at the default mid-point in the EQ, even with the factory speakers in place. I just have to watch pushing the volume too high or I get some bass distortion, but it takes quite a bit to get there. It will sound even better once I get my decent Kicker speakers in, going with the the full 6.75" that will fit. They at least have a 90dB sensitivity and get some response starting at 40Hz, so by the 60Hz mid bass point there should be quite decent response and is a good base to explore additional upgrades from there at least. And these are only $56 including the adapter ring and wiring harness included from Crutchfield, they same price without the adapters as Amazon. From there, absolutely you'd want to look at an amp for sure.

Hey guys I tried disabling the Sony sound processing on my car and followed the spreadsheet, but it appears the option to keep Sirius but disable sound processing is already in my APIM module. I bought the car new so I know it has not been messed with before. The sound in the car is really terrible and I think sound processing is still happening. Does anyone know if there is a way to test if sound processing is active, or if I should be using a new value to disable sound processing? I have a 2019 btw...it seems other options don't work for the 2019 as well, such as putting climate control on screen...did Ford change things around with the 2019?

Any pointers would be great. I don't really know what I'm doing so I am afraid to just start trying random values and bricking my car.

Newbie here with Focus, btw, just trying to help out with a Forscan issue...….. I have a 2018 Focus SEL with Sync 3 and the Sony System which has a woofer and tweeter in each of the 4 doors, a dash speaker, and the subwoofer. I did not keep good notes on what I did at first but anyway... The sound was not good and not what any of my previous Fords with "premium" sound sounded like.... My 2009 Focus Sony system was better and I'm happy if I can get to that level. I tried Forscan on the 2018 and tried many changes, but it still wasn't right. I reset the Forscan setting back to factory. So, I got new speakers and these made a noticable difference but still not right to my ears. It wasn't until I saw a post in the Explorer forums about making a change to the "ACM" "audio Equalizer" at 727-01-02 with x*xx in Forscan and my default is 0031 (remember I have Focus so your's may be different). The poster mentioned that in the Russian forums, that 7 or 9 would be best. So, I changed the second character from 0 to 9 and I have yet to try the 7 or others. Wow ! That did it...Huge improvement.. and I can finally hear the rear tweeters ! I can only assume that this change is the equivalent to what "danbfree" has done and I can't agree with him more when he says that if there's one reason to use Forscan, this is it.

So, Jesse_MI I suggest giving this one change a shot since the others seem to have had no effect and I hope it works for you...

Yep, there seems to be little differences in almost every year so you may have to try these different things n the '18-'19's, it doesn't hurt to experiment a bit as long as you make a backup first and only try one setting at a time. I now can't get my 10 minutes of audio after shut down or until door is open now matter what I try. I swear to whatever you believe in, even if it;s just the truth, that I swear that after looking up my ASBUILT setings online they showed the changes I made. Car may have uploaded something or I may have fried something, but at least I was able to get steering wheel controls back after losing those at some point too, LOL... so backup your settings! :)

In ForScan. First save your original settings before making any changes. The button is on the bottom of the screen once you access the proper control module. That's what they mean by backing them up. Then if yuh ou good, you have the original settings and can revert back.

An observation that may be of interest to someone, I have a 2019 and it seems the audio post-processing was disabled by default (I hadn't seen anyone mention that). The first nibble of APIM:726-01-01 was already a '2', which I changed to a '0', since I'm not going to sub to satellite radio.

I haven't tried changing it to an '8' to see if that makes the audio "weird", I guess that would be next, but I'm wondering if they didn't finally realize that it sounds better disabled, lol.

I had a friend asking me about his 2019 Ford Fiesta SE. I know it’s not an ST, but you guys seem pretty knowledgeable on Forscan. For his car, when he starts it up with the sync 1, he gets the blue ford emblem and then just shows the radio stuff. He was wondering if like the ST, he had different options on what his little boot screen could be. Didn’t know if anyone had any knowledge of that, or what codes would change in his APIM. Thanks for any help!

I believe only the Sync 3 systems have the capability to change the boot screen. I'm not aware that my Sync 2 can even be changed, but we can change the wallpaper, something the Sync 3 doesn't do.

Just played with forscan for the first time, now I have the ST splash screen and on-screen climate controls on my 2017 with sync 3.4. The voice commands work for the climate control, but it asks to confirm the temperature whenever I ask. Is there any way to turn the confirmation off?

Their was with Sync 2, not sure about Sync 3 but I'd guess their is.

Think it's called Advanced Commands or something along those lines.

I need to disable the camera, I had a wiring issue and don't feel like working with it at this piont. I thought I made a backup, but can't find it. Does anyone have that entire line of code I can use to disable it?

This should help with what you are trying to accomplish. I believe enabling/disabling the backup camera is one of the "built-in" configs of Forscan. I would check this first, it may make it easier instead of writing to the code block.

Is this spreadsheet actually up-to-date? I just got FORscan downloaded and was poking around. I thought I'd try messing with the load screen and change from Ford to ST. Spreadsheet says to change 7D0-02-01 xxxx xXxx xxxx. If I change the second character in the second set of hex; that should do it. When I hit write it comes up with a checksum error and warns me to not continue. Watching this video:
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHcoSn0A7ZU&feature=youtu.be
it shows him altering 7D0-01-01 to make screen changes (along with backup cam). What gives?

I used the spreadsheet for my 2017 and it worked perfectly

I just watched the video again. He does change the 7D0-02-01 character from 1 to B to make the splash screen change (as shown on the google doc), but incorrectly narrates that the splash screen change is being made in the 7D0-01-01 hex.

I'm still not sure why I am getting a checksum error when changing 1(Ford screen) to B(ST screen). I will have to play around with it some more, later. This is on my 2016 which kenweise has tested on.
