Yes that's how the car normally works but since the cam phasers are defective or overtightened it isn't allowing the cams to move.

So is Mountune helping you sort this out?
I hope they do. If you need help over there ask for Edward Nahabedian. He’s an RS owner but he’s alright.

Mountune will be covering it fully under warranty.

To be honest, I'm not sure. As they say in their site, the warranty isnt really included. But the one caveat to that is if they mess up on the craftsmanship then it is covered. In this case, they say they check every tolerance of the engine before they begin work and they obviously didn't check the phasers well enough so it becomes an issue with what they provided not something worn out from normal use.

For that kind of long money they should cover it and even then they don’t need any bad pub.
Hey mrx, when you get your engine check to make sure they put the right bolts in the cam phasers. I haven't gotten the car back yet but it's acting as it should mechanic said after cam phasers swap. They put the wrong type of bolt into the exhaust cam phaser... Also had a washer on it. It essentially locked out the phaser.

Thanks for the heads up 👍. After I saw your post I called Edward Nahabedian at Mountune. I think they got in touch with you yes? I asked if I was going to have to open up my engine to check for this issue. I’ll find out soon enough. Thanks again 👌

Shitty thing is, since the bolt may have been the issue they won't pay for the phasers... They already aren't paying for diagnostics or the solenoids we used for known goods. If they don't pay for phasers I'm out almost 450 dollars for a mistake they made.

Did you talk with Edward yesterday?
Edit: Btw I know Mountune wants to help you solve this problem and make sure Edward Nahabedian is your contact person in customer service.

I didn't talk with Edward. My contact currently is Tyler Hara. Do you have Edwards email?

Ok so... Cams are fixed. Major oil leak back side of head and a boost leak. Also got a code for to much air entering before the throttle body but I just had to fix the inlet to the intake side of the turbo and that went away. Gremlins man. I'm sure if the car was working properly before the cams I would have gotten these codes as well but I'm sure my car had no idea what was going on with those cams locked out. Seeing a peak of 8.65 psi boost and the oil I think is coming from the turbo to block hose for the oil. Just going to take out the entire turbo tomorrow pre tighten all the fitting hella tight and put it back in as one assembly that should fix the oil leak wherever it may be and if not I'll go from there. I'll also make sure all my boost hoses are tight.

Any news from Mountune?
Just sent them an email this morning. Hopefully Edward gets back to me today. I requested that they pay for the bolts and phasers even though the aftermarket bolt was the problem. The reason I did that was it was easier to assume that mountune got a bad part than to think they intentionally put a bad part into the system. I'm also asking them to send a call tag for the parts cuz I don't think it's fair I pay for shipping. I'm also asking they pay for labor. Altogether we are looking at 1100 from them.

So what exactly did Mountune mess up during assembly? Also are there pics?
