Okay. Let's see if I can get a bunch of pictures up from Urban-X. First thing after the infield track was lunch back at the classroom.

First up for us was the handbrake 180. The rain wasn't gone yet so the sprinkler wasn't necessary.

Everyone has a little trouble at first learning how hard you have to pull the brake lever.

You might even hit a cone.

Eventually everyone was getting the car to pirouette nicely around the cone

My wife rode along for the Figure 8 practice, so the video attached is the only thing she got of that.

After Figure 8 we moved on to the parking box. Like the 180, there was some familiarization before everyone was getting this one down pat.

The second video comes from this exercise.

Finally after all the practice is done it's time to run the full Urban-X course. You get an instructor ride-along, two practices, and then one shot for the glory.

This series is a full run through of the Urban-X, my run which counted for time. Wasn't my best (my second practice run felt the best to me) but quick enough to be third.

All in all it was a well-run class and a lot of fun. It was unfortunate that rain kept us from having instructor ride-alongs and solo laps on the infield road course. But it was definitely worth going to.

Unfortunately after this year it looks like the only choice for the Ford Performance Racing School will be either the mountain ST class for Explorers and Edges or one of the Mustang classes.

I guess they also have a Raptor school, since there were a fleet of Raptors there in Charlotte, and their Instagram is sending me pictures of the school.

It's unfortunate that Ford no longer sells cars. But if people were willing to pay to go to the Octane Academy, seems like they could keep it around. I know my nephew wants to do it, but since he bought his Focus ST as a 6 month old car traded in while he was working at a Ford dealer, he doesn't get to do the Octane Academy. And the original owner didn't do the Octane Academy, but it doesn't transfer. Anyway, you'd have to email and beg Ford itself to sell the cars if you want the Octane Academy to live on.

There was a fleet of Focus RS's sitting in their impound lot at Charlotte. Wonder what they are doing with those?

NC (and VA) now put on essential travel only (I don't think racing schools is essential to the governors) Anybody heard from FPR? I sent an email to Jill tonight.

Just got the APRIL cancellation email this morning. She said to re-register. As of noon, EDT, here is what was left. YMMV. I booked the SEP class.

Are those the last classes ever or will there be more after all this settles down?

Also, I don't recall getting a letter of any sort after purchasing the car, so is this free other than flight and accommodations? That may be a factor in deciding on going here or to Dirtfish/Team O'Neil type school.

It’s my understanding that this is it. STOA will be phased out 1 year from when the last ST is sold. It’s free except travel & hotel. Food is served while your at school.

No charge for the course.
Were they going up through October before, or are these make-up dates?

BTW, don't count on breakfast. Luckily they told us to eat at the hotel, because I don't recall any solid food in the morning.

Yeah, they told us light snacks the night before but all I saw in the morning was the fridge of bottled water.

I don't recall that there were any fall dates when I signed up. Just late winter, into spring.

I didn't ask Jill, she just said go to the site and register for what is there.....okay, thank you Jill...lol And she said May was there, but it wasn't. It was too close anyway.

I have not found a way to see what seats are left AFTER registering, only during reg. Anybody else?

I booked an airbnb that was under $30 a night plus fees. I'll do that again for Sep. I provided the Governor's Order to get a full refund from airbnb. It will take at least two weeks, but I'm good. I'm still working. I may visit my FL friend in May or June w/the Mazduh to take supplies, tools, and my help. Then I'll do a separate trip to Charlotte in Sep that will not cost me any vacation days since I work 4 ten's AND...I can drive my FiST there.

In the off chance that anyone else was bugged by slight crookedness of the drift stick on their participation trophy, I finally got around to loosening the two little screws under the base and getting the think more in line with the nameplate and all.

So the pizza place next door put out some cones to control traffic for their curbside pickup. Or is that a box down at the end to do the handbrake 180?
