Fiesta Steering wheel change

Hi All,

i’m new here and ive just bought a 2009 ford fiesta 1.4l from a friend. I wanted to slowly work towards renewing the car. First idea i had was to change a few hardwares such as the steering wheel and the factory radio. I’d like a multifunctional steering with audio controls and cruise control options as well as a navigation system.

my question is, can i just purchase a ford fiesta multifunctional steering wheel and exchange it with my basic wheel? How about the extra controls? Will they just need some wire connections? Can i use a new steering wheel model rather than the 2009 one?

Sorry if these are silly questions. I wasn’t sure where else to ask.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Unfortunately, this is one of those situations where you are probably going to need to be the Guinea pig and let us know what happens. I can pretty much confirm that an ST wheels should fit your car as you can put the base wheel on the ST. In regards to the media controls on the wheels, I can't speak to that. You would need to take your wheel off and see if there is a plug for the data lines that come off the controls on the clock spring. If there is no plug on the clock spring behind the wheel for controls, and If you are getting an aftermarket radio, I do know that there are some aftermarket wireless controls that mount to the steering wheel and work by means of radio or IR, unsure which. You could look into that as a bandaid. Otherwise, I'm sure it's possible to retrofit, but would take some work on your part to source the necessary components and running the lines to the head unit.

Nevertheless, good luck whichever route you end up going with this. And update us along the way!
