Alright, I started the first phase of my build in November (see signature) and it's mostly wrapped up now, so I'm planning next steps. This is mostly just a place for me to keep track of everything. I'll add updates as I go.

Spring for sure:

Summer wheels/tires:

OZ Ultraleggera 15s:

Toyo Proxes R1R 225/45/15:

Whiteline Camber Bolts:

Preferably at the same time, though it might have to wait:

Ford Performance Differential Install Kit:

MFactory Limited Slip Differential

Hopefully by July/August:

Koni Sport Front Shocks:

Koni Sport Rear Shocks:

DNA Racing Subframe Brace (6 point):

DNA Racing Subframe Bar (2 point):

My financial situation has unexpectedly improved recently, so it looks like I'm going to do all this now, except the wheels and tires which will wait until Spring.

My new donut should come in this week, which will save me about 20 pounds over the stock full size spare. Waiting for parts to come in to schedule all the rest of the work. I'm doing none of it myself because I live in an apartment and it's cold as balls outside.

Job 1 (Local tuning shop):

-Front and rear Koni Sport (yellow) shocks
-Whiteline front camber bolts
-DNA Racing rear camber plates
-DNA Racing bottom subframe stiffening brace (6 point)
-DNA Racing front subframe stiffening bar (2 point)

Job 2 (Local Ford dealership):

-MFactory limited slip differential
-OEM slave cylinder

Job 3 (Local body shop):

-Seibon carbon fiber hood
-Diode Dynamics Luxeon LED foglights

That will hopefully all be wrapped up by this time next month, and then the finishing touches:

-Mele battery box
-Antigravity ATX30-HD battery (20 pounds lighter than stock)
-OZ Ultraleggera 15x7 wheels (42 pounds lighter than stock)
-Toyo R1R 225/45/15 tires (12 pounds heavier than stock)

And I'm not sure yet, but I might end up going with the Whoosh big brake kit as well, which would save me another 15 pounds or so.

The goal is to be finished with everything by April 25th, when I'm scheduled to participate in an open track day at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. $250 for seven 20-minute track sessions. No points, no trophies, just fun.

Formula Ford 3/18:
LSD
Slave cylinder

Delivered:
Shocks
Camber bolts
Fog lights
Camber plates

On the way:
Headlights
Pedal cover

Not yet shipped:

CF hood

Once the subframe bracing comes in, I'm scheduling them, the shocks, cambers bolt, and camber plates installed at my tuning shop, along with an alignment.

Headlights, foglights, and the hood to be installed at the local body shop.

The pedal cover I can do myself. https://www.boosteddesigns.com/products/boosted-designs-dead-pedal

Can't wait to meet you and see the car! I have my salvage inspection next week, then I have about 30 days to do turbo, tune, full exhaust, coilovers, all new brakes, etc etc....

Pretty long shipping delays on the the DNA Racing braces and the carbon fiber hood, so I'm having to reshuffle things. Also I'm finally getting off my base map and trying to finalize my e-tune, and my tuner is telling me I'm not building proper levels of boost from 3000-4200rpm or so, so I got to try to chase that down as well before my track day at the end of next month.

New schedule:

Thursday, 3/18:
-MFactory limited slip differential
-OEM slave cylinder

Tuesday, 3/23:
-Koni Sport (yellow) shocks front & rear
-Whiteline front camber bolts with -1.0 degrees dialed in
-DNA Racing rear camber plates with -1.0 degrees dialed in
-Alignment

Thursday, 3/25:
-OZ Ultraleggera 15x7 wheels installed
-Toyo Proxes R1R tires installed

Week of 3/28 - 4/3:
Paying an experienced tuner with a shop 2 hours away to keep the car for a few days, test drive it extensively, and visually inspect everything as well as datalogging to try to track down my insufficient low-end boost situation and just check everything over in general before I put the car on a track.

Between then and 4/25 track day:

-Body shop to install new headlights, foglights, carbon fiber hood
-Local tuner to install DNA Racing 2 point subframe bar and 6 point subframe brace
-Full detail including ceramic coating.

Well, just got it back from the shop with the shocks, front camber bolts, and rear camber plates installed, and I think I'm going to have to take the rear camber plates back out. For one thing, with the plates I have -2.0Ā°, and -2.2Ā° on the rear wheels, which is more than I wanted for tire wear in a daily driver. Secondly, and most importantly, it triggered by ABS sensor and my traction control sensor, and I'm fairly certain my performance has been degraded quite significantly. I'm not sure if the engine is just in some kind of limp mode or what, but power seems to be down quite a bit.

Without the plates, the rear wheels were -0.4Ā°, and -0.7Ā°, anyway. That'll have to be enough.

Did you remove the rear brake dust cover when you installed the rear camber plates?

Probably not. I didn't do it myself, had it all installed at my local garage. They are a glorified tire shop, so they don't really have experience with this kind of stuff.

That's likely the fault - everything I've seen says you need to remove the deflector if you're installing the plates, otherwise it trips up the ABS sensor.

Thanks for the tip.

Dust covers removed, ABS and TC lights out.

So as of today, camber bolts and plates have been installed, Koni Sport (yellow) shocks all around installed, along with requisite alignment.

Also my DNA Racing subframe braces came in and have been installed, and yesterday I got my OZ Ultraleggeras and Toyo Proxes R1R 225/45/15s put on there.

Now it's at a professional tuner to chase down my low low-end boost issue and give the entire car a good lookover to make sure everything was installed correctly and she's ready for the track on 4/25.

In other words, I'm done with performance mods for a while. I may come back in the fall and tweak things here or there, but I've done pretty much every mod I set out to do, and a few extras for good measure.

Now I'm just waiting for my Seibon carbon fiber hood to come in so I can install it, my LED foglights, and new LED (HID-look) headlight assemblies, and finally, ceramic coating and a full detail.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. :D

What did the alignment specs end up at? I just added camber bolts and rear plates to my car as well, but need to do the alignment.

Also curious how the fitment is with 225/45/R15?

Well, still no luck tracking down why I'm not getting sufficient boost from 3000-4500RPM, so it's at the closest real, dedicated tuning shop trying to track it down. The guy seems to really know his stuff, so I'm cautiously optimistic. However, if he can't figure it out, I might have to swap back to stock turbo to diagnose if it's a problem with the turbo itself or what. I really hope I don't have to do that. I'm done with performance mods at this point, so basically just trying to get everything optimized.

Summer wheels and tires went on last week and are awesome.

I have the HID/LED headlight assemblies and LED foglight assemblies ready to be installed, but I'm still waiting on my Seibon carbon fiber hood. Apparently they are backordered. I'd like to get this all installed at once, but we'll see.

After that I'll be headed to New Hampshire Motor Speedway on 4/25, and then I have a full interior/exterior detailing and ceramic coating getting done.

And then, hopefully, I'll be done. I'm hiring a professional photographer/videographer to do a photo and video shoot to celebrate the finale. I'll post photos here and a link to the video on youtube once it's all said and done.

My tuner was able to find and rectify my insufficient low-end boost issue, and the old girl is now operating nominally. I will pick her up on Saturday and have new datalogs sent to Adam at Tune+ on Sunday so hopefully this time next week I'll be on an updated tune with full boost. This is my first time with custom tunes, so I'm not sure how many revisions it normally takes. Either way, it feels great to finally be done with performance mods and have everything working correctly.

Unfortunately New Hampshire Motor Speedway has been temporarily converted into a vaccination site, so the April 25th track date has been cancelled. I hope to find another event, perhaps in May, in which to finally be able to put her through her paces and get a feel for how she and I perform close to the limit.

As far as the build, all that remains are cosmetics. I'm going to get my headlights and foglights installed next week, hopefully, and then I'll just be waiting on the carbon fiber hood. They're crazy back-ordered so it might be another 2 months before it even ships. We'll see.

Anyway, huge load off my mind with this boost issue fixed. I think I see light at the end of the tunnel. Just hope it's not a train!
