7000#, massive torque immediately off the line, traction for days, oodles of tech, comfortable, spacious interior, tons of storage space, awesome road-trip car, and boring to the extreme. I can't think of a less FiST-ty car that I'd ever consider.

I think that my next big purchase is going to have to be a new phone - talk about a potato photo!

7K lbs.!!!

HOW MUCH do those batteries weigh?!?!
Lots and lots. The optioned-out ICE F150 weighs something like 5700#. This one has two motors, two differentials, and a wad of batteries. Everything is really low so it feels way more composed than my 2005 F150 did, but you really feel the weight. I think that I've got a better appreciation of what it takes to pilot a battleship or container ship.

Not with the brown-outs and black-outs we've been promised!
I've got solar on the roof; truck will charge in the daytime and power my house at night. People forget that interruptions of the grid effect your ability to fill up your ICE with gas every bit as much as your ability to charge your EV. I can make angry electrons on my own but I can't make gasoline.

Since we can’t afford a lightning yet we are looking at the hybrid maverick. I sure would love a lightning. Crazy how fast technology is improving. I decided against solar years ago because the battery backup really made it expensive, and I didn’t see as much benefit without storage. Now I could install a solar array and a generator receptacle to keep the lights on during an outage and still be able to get around town.

I saw a Hybrid Bronco yesterday . I would take the hybrid Maverick though. I prefer Hybrids to all Electric.

I don't think Ford makes a hybrid Bronco, yet. The F150 replaced a Honda Ridgeline which, several times, wasn't quite enough truck so I'm happy to be back in a full-size pickup; I really do need a "real" bed (even if it's just a short bed).

EV's are an adjustment and aren't for everyone. We have plenty of off-street parking and no problem getting electrical to our cars (we have two EVs, now - only the FiST burns dinosaurs and corn). If we had to park on the street or someplace where we couldn't install a charger then EVs would be a no-go. Unless I was regularly driving over 200 miles a day and often to areas that didn't have a charging infrastructure range wouldn't bother me. I don't charge the F150 over 80% b/c there's no need and it's better for battery longevity.

My wife commutes 70 miles round trip almost daily in our Leaf and we just got back from a 4-day road trip in the F150 with 0 hiccups. There's more planning involved, which, really, just means plugging your destination into nav and letting it tell you where and for how long you're going to stop on the way. 25 minutes of fast charge will get me 150 miles in the F150 and we like to stretch our legs every couple of hours, anyways.

All that said, EV sports cars do nothing for me. They seem too soulless, and I've driven some "nice" ones. I don't think I'll ever sell the FiST but I also don't think I'll ever buy another ICE for daily use.

I've told anyone who would listen that the FiST will be the last ICE vehicle I ever own.

I'm reminded of how Jay Leno compared ICE cars now to horses in the early 1900s. Before vehicles, horses were treated like tools and abused, thrown out like hot garbage when they outlived their ability to make someone money, horribleness goes on and on. But when vehicles came around the only people who owned horses were people who *loved* horses and that still holds true today.

That's how I see my Fiesta and I agree that no EV will come close to that no matter how bad it can pants me off the line or around corners. Never thought I'd own a car that would be an extension of myself but here we are.

As far it being possibly the last ICE car I get to own I feel the same. I sit down fire it up and become part of the cars experience. Same can be said for my wife's R53 2004 Mini S. Love driving that too with its supercharger experience and coilover suspension is just a bonus with her Mini😃
