Yes, that was my response as well (never inteding to be). Evidently the current politically correct term is "Boy racered", so thats what I plan to use.
That my fellow member is form of Genderism if you wanna get technical* So that too is also unacceptable. BUT do i care...Absolutely NOT! :ROFLMAO:

ya somewhere in there it went from a term for terrible things done to Japanese cars like under glow lights and all kinds of cheesy ass shit. To a term that people either tried to use racially or people afraid of offending others termed a racial comment.

Savagegeese (among others) did a review on this, live today. A few interesting things:

1, he brings up the Fiesta ST as comparison...mu hah hah...
2, he says torque dies off before redline and it needs to be shifted beforehand...kind of like a stock ST...

Of course we're biased here but......initial impressions, aside from having more HP and TQ than a stock ST, seem underwhelming to this Fiesta ST owner.
The commentary on the suspension was surprising - Toyota went soft, which is where the comparison to our communicative but “twitchy” car comes in.

Will be it be interesting to see how this car handles “off piste” - softer setup may be a compromise for gravel and rallying?

In short, most people have gotten so sensitive that you can’t speak without offending someone.

I made a comment in an email like this the other day, about a car looking "riced out", and the person called me extremely racist... Im talking about a car, but evidently that doesn't matter, Im a huge racist...

Nah, it's just ignorance and you're being called on it where you weren't before. If you can't figure out why calling something "riced out" is bad, then, for example, you probably use the term "jap" and think it isn't a slur.

Moving on, I don't think this car is underwhelming or anything else, it's just too damn expensive to care about. Since quite a few members already have this power level they have to ask themselves "what's worth $50k+ here?" and the obvious answer is nothing.

People just really need to accept that we're not ever going to see another car like the Fiesta ST. The GR Corolla, Golf R, etc aren't going to thrill you the way the FiST does day to day. "Cheap" fun and right at that spot of too much/not enough power, though I figure most of that sentiment would go away if it had any top end from the factory. Anyhow, the GR Corolla is fine, but it's not much more than a distraction.

Ignorance implies being unknowing, so that’s a negative. Insensitive, maybe. But I’d argue all the word policing is over sensitive.

Although back pressure is needed for normally aspirated engines, I have always found that little or no back pressure is better for boosted.
In addition, I have found that the least back pressure produces a lower pitch exhaust note.
THIS is what I was always told as well, but then so many on here kept saying that because our factory snail is so 'microscopic', we 'need' some of that small exhaust system diameter back pressure to make power.

Therefore; don't put that 3" cat-back system on our stock turbo cars, like I did anyway ('for the sound'). [wink]

Except that not many who buy these 'exclusive' very limited production rides are going to take them off road at all, or even working on rallies as I do with the FiST.

Any who might prep one as an ARA Open 4WD, or even Limited 4WD class car are going to completely change out the factory suspension anyway. [wink]

I actually do like the GR Corrolla a lot, seems very promising to me. If a new car has shortcomings, I always ask myself if it's something 10k in aftermarket parts can't fix.

Only real issue I have are the so-so seats with the base model, which is more of pain to go aftermarket with air bags and insurance. Hopefully ADM will eventually go down too in a few years.

I do like it starts at a lower weight relative to the evo, sti, golf r, etc. aftermarket for the drivetrain is fairly established. Reliability is another strong point with it being a Toyota product. I'm not sure if I'd replace my evo x or fiesta with it, but definitely considering the possibility of doing so.

No comment on political correctness, but I really really hate the term 'boy racer.' No problem at all with it being used on threads, but auto journalists who get paid to write should be shamed for being so unimaginative and complacent with the use of that cliche.

Agreed on “boy racer” considering many professional drivers were, in fact, boy racers out there thrashing older guys on the track.

Ya my take on this car now that pricing is out is A: It’s a bit fugly but then again stock Corolla’s are not that great looking and Pro Rally cars were never a study in looks.:ROFLMAO:
That aside its just really expensive for what it is . A hopped up Corolla hatch for 50k sorry but my money will go elsewhere for that price tag. Now on the used market a few years down the road it might be an acquisition.
I am still headed towards a RWD vehicle for the next sports car acquisition. 3 choices are in that category.
I also had not driven my FiST for close to a week straight due to being out of town and then not needing to drive it when I got back. I was ruminating on not liking the torque steer due to the bigger turbo. Then I drove the car again. A smile appeared on my face. It would be hard to replace this happy/angry little Pokémon.

yah for $50k chorizo version (plus unavoidable adm) forget it.
under $40k (37k base plus diffs option $1,200) really not bad for the base model w/ diffs.

I wish the Z had that option where you could just spend $2k on a good diff without having to jump $10k, but thats why imo even the Z in 40k trim makes more sense.
