is this turbo any good?

Good afternoon everyone!

I have just purchased this turbo to go stage 3 on my ST180

I was wondering if this turbo is any good? After speaking to a tuner they said
"With regards to the turbo, we have tuned with one of these turbos before, they have upgraded internals over standard, but perform only slightly better than a stock turbo with pretty poor results, I can't really recommend using that turbo personally, you certainly won't be seeing near 300bhp "

From what im aware turbos like the s270 and x47 reuse the orignal housing, so what causes this one to not be able to push the same power?

My end goal is to make more power than standard turbo but i dont plan on pushing it hard as to cause potential engine damage. I was looking for the 300bhp sweet spot

I guess my question is is this a good purchase? or should i look for an alternative turbo. I can't refund it as it has already been posted.

You have already purchased this turbo without doing research beforehand. Your tuner has told you that it gets "pretty poor results" and "can't really recommend using [it]."

No, it isn't.

Don’t know anything about it but if your tuner does and says it’s crap, you should probably believe him. That said, it’ll still make more power than stock so it’s not completely useless. You’ve already spent the $ so might as well have a go at it.

Yeah, I would have put that 500 quid towards an S280 or S290 instead of rolling the dice on a used hybrid snail.
