Hi
I have a very weird issue in my Fiesta st mk7
When I'm on the Highway, at 120kmh, in 6th gear, the gear lever randomly Starts to rattle and wants to shift on his own In 5th gear. Sounds like it stays in "neutral" between 5h and 6th gear. Revs goes up and I have to manually shift back in 6th gear. Doesn't happen too often. In a 200km trip it happened 4-5 times.

Something to consider is that my passenger side motor mount, might be a bit worn out. I hear some rattling when the car is cold coming from the mount and my engine does move a bit on acceleration (is dead still at idle tho)

Thanks a lot for your answers

sorry - terminal. The trans has a history of self-detonation and many posts to review on this site. I ended with warranty (!!) rebuild under 60k, with a repeat death at 115K. I bought a remanufactured trans from Clarke in FL/USA, you may need to discover pumaspeed in the UK.

and sorry - 'input' shaft, not my guttural philly 'imput'...

Mine has 191,000 miles. To the best of my knowledge besides a fluid change which I did the only other thing is a slave cylinder replacement when the clutch was replaced by the previous owner.

There are a number of things which can cause this. Although it often does involve worn internal parts (shift forks or synchros), there are some other simpler things to check before writing off the transmission. If you have stretched or misadjusted shifter cables, they could prevent the transmission from going all the way into 6th. This thread has a lot of chatter, but does describe adjusting the shifter cables: https://www.fiestastforum.com/threa...les-with-6-speed-manual-transmission-b6.1989/

Transmission fluid being low can also result in gear disengagement. So checking/topping off/changing the fluid would fix this.

The 5th-6th shifter stop can become loose, allowing the shifter to move out of place.

If all those things are in spec, then the transmission needs rebuild or replacement.
