You walk the course before the runs start. Walk the course and memorize. Certain cones mean things too. Some cones are layed on the side as pointer cones.
If you're still not comfortable, you can always just burn a run not full out to drive the course.
I never had the delamination problem, but damn did I have vibration on the outer edge wear. I initially thought I was having a mechanical failure somewhere 😆

It’s hit or miss with needing shims. Ive seen some not needing it, and as you can see with mine, I needed shims.
I’d say change the input shaft bearing. It practically fell out with a little heat on the transmission case.
