1/4 mile time slips - Lapeer 10-25-14

Completely stock base model 15 Fiesta ST. 4300+miles on the odo at the time, had the first oil change at the dealer the week before. Left my son's Recaro child seat in the back seat (people hate to get beat by a guy with a child seat).

Beautiful day with clear skies. Temperature for the first pass was about 62 deg. rose to 71 on the last pass. Unfortunate head wind that day - 20-25 mile per hour wind blowing straight up the track. Lapeer is great for making a lot of passes, but notorious for the lack of track prep.

While I get to a dragstrip at least once a year, I have not run a FWD down the 1/4 since the late 90's. I struggled with the launch and had a problem with turbo lag every time I shifted into 2nd, even with full throttle shifts.

All but one pass was in the right lane for consistency. Best ET was on my 1st pass (14.833). Best MPH was on the last pass (95.73). Time slips are not in order.

I feel that with some more miles on the car and without the wind 14.7's are easily achievable. If I can get lucky and put it all together for a whole pass maybe even a high 14.5. I will go back in the spring and try again.

Great photos. Thanks Russ

That damn Veloster kept passing me at mid track. I may have to stop by in the spring before the re-match.

Korean market OEM ECU swap good for 30+hp. He is a close friend and we have been racing against each other for over 15 years so I know he is straight with me. The first slip is our 1st pass of the day and the closest pass we had.

He had couple tenths on me all day, but I had 1-2 MPH on him through the traps. I was better in 60ft but in 2nd and 3rd he would get around me. 4th gear was a dead heat with me creaping up right before the line. Both cars had 4300-4500 miles on them.

BTW - the last yellow light was out for my 1st three passes (the circled passes)...that really screws with your head. I thought i missed it the first time. After the 2nd pass I realized what was going on and brought it to the starters attention on run #3. I tried to time it off the 2nd light for the 3rd pass.... .006 Redlight, crap, crap, crap. After that I could not get in the groove all day. I had no faith that the light was going to come on. Very bizare feeling.
