I don't think they are much larger than the FiST FMIC.
I am pretty sure the FoST IC is larger, but I can't find FiST dimensions to compare. FoST IC info pulled from FocusST.org.

Stock FoST IC
Core Dimensions:
26" x 6.25" x 2.5"
Core Volume:
406.25 in?
Product Photo:

Compared to the Cobb unit-
Cobb
Core Dimensions:
27.5" x 6" x 3"
Core Volume:
495 in?

Mathematically based off of Cobb's statements, I'm assuming the FiST IC is somewhere around 315-325 in? and would place the FoST IC in-between the two. Considering the fact that it's only ~$100 brand-new from Ford and can probably be had used for less from the FoST community, it would be an inexpensive alternative for someone that doesn't need 'maximum' cooling and had no intention of going big-turbo.

Of course, my math could be totally wrong based on my assumption of the FiST's stock IC measurements, and that could make the FoST IC either a better or worse deal for the cost.

Well, just by counting cooling rows, the FoST one is larger. 10 rows to FiST's 8.

I'll go measure my OEM FiST fmic at some point today, it's just sitting in the garage.

Hmm... But what about the mounting points? I'm sure the silicone pipes won't mind the 1/2" move but mounting might be the problem.

Ok I just went out and measured my OEM FiST intercooler.

Core is 27.5 x 5.25 x 2
Top mounting points are 32" apart
Widest point, being the outlets are 40" apart

So your measurements where a little off. ;)

The FoST mounting points are very different so that might make an install slightly more difficult. Also the extra .25 in height over the cobb unit might make it a very tight fit. I know my AIRTEC makes use of pretty much all vertical space and it's a tight fit. I wish I measured my AIRTEC before I installed it.

So 30% increase in volume for free to $100? Wow... That is pretty good for a stock turbo car... Plus.. Dealership would prob never realize it = warranty :)

Is it worth getting the charge pipes from cobb? Are they really necessary immediately if an intercooler is in the immediate future? Or is it okay to run the intercooler with stock pipes? I'm asking because I would save that cash and invest in their intake when it comes out.
