Finally got some tires! Replaced the factory Bridgestones at 25,985 miles today. Ordered Federal Formosa FD2 in 215/40zr17 from www.tires-easy.com

Just had them installed. Can’t speak to performance levels yet, but going from a summer to an all season, I know there will be trade offs. Hopefully they take me to 60k miles.

I wanted to put pictures for the fitment on stock wheels and suspension. They ride smoother and quieter as well. You can buy 3 sets for the price of one Bridgestone set.

Actually I'm planning to get these in a 195/60/15 soon as my SS595s are about ready to be replaced. Let us know your thoughts!

Will do. Here in Alabama we actually have a winter, not like folks up north or out west, but enough that I had rather air on the side of being prepared. Hopefully I will get to test them thru all facets soon.

Will definitely be updating as miles and wear progress.

How much did they bulge on a 7" wide wheel? Im running 215/40/17 SS595s on 7.5" wheels they dont bulge.

Zero. Check the pics posted. I feel that a 215 is the perfect section width on a 7”. Any more is overkill.

Cool. Might toss the 215s back on the stock wheels and look for another set of wheels.

I was debating a set of 17x8 Titans to mount them on. I held off and am thinking that the Cobb FMIC kit is a better investment!

Do you have a Cobb tuner? NOTHING will make as a change as a custom tune.

No joke. I avoided buying a tuner for like 2 years because i thought it wasnt necessary. I was wrong.

FYI, for anyone else buying from Tires-easy: Buy direct from their website and not their eBay store. If you buy from the website, your tires come with free road hazard warranty for 1 year. If you buy from their eBay store you don't get the warranty. I learned the hard way, not that it would've helped because they didn't have the Federal I needed in stock.

???

I honestly thought people just jumped on the Cobb bandwagon and bought their stuff. I tried buying other tuners like Diablo's or SCT's, but few tuners dealt with those handhelds.

Found a local AP for sale for $300 and jumped on it. Then i got a Stratified tune. No other mod made such a drastic change.

Once I get a laptop, I’ll go custom tune. Yeah I fought buying “stage packages” for a bit. Finally sucked it up and bought in. They have good R&D. I’ll keep using their stuff! I really like the interface from the AP3. Last experience with a tuner was an SCT Xcal 2 on a SVT Focus. That’s been some years.

Eventually I’ll be a fully bolted COBB Stage 3. That’s probably where I’ll stop.

300 miles in, and they are smooth and quiet. Much more so than the stock bridgestones. Time will tell. I’m not an aggressive driver.. I dig in the gas a bit but I don’t Ken Block around town either.

As long as you don't "Ken Block" in the Maine woods LOL;

(I was working this stage a few miles back from where he rolled and burned this poor car to the ground, one of the last people to see it in pristine shape, and in one complete piece. [:(])

6k miles deep. Would definitely do it again!
Thanks for the followup.

If it weren't out of stock for the size that I was looking for at my previous stores when I was shopping for them I'd have some too. May have to wait until next time. I will try again if available in my future size...

Here we are 10,000 miles later..

Still very impressed, have had them in wet conditions, wintery mixes, and packed snow. Obviously didn’t perform well in snow but they performed better than the BStones did. They are still quiet and smooth. I don’t believe they are 50% worn yet, I’d say that there’s btw 60-70% tread left and I anticipate seeing these tires on the car when I reach the 45,000 mark.

This was a good move and investment for me. If they are available at that point, I’ll buy another set.

I get spirited at times on the street, but not like I did when I was 18 and didn’t have a care on the world.

I know it's been a bit, but any updates on this? Considering grabbing the Federal AZ01 which is pretty similar to the FD2. Obviously quite a bit less dry cornering grip than the OE Bridgestones I'm sure, but was it still "fun and tossable"?
