Vacuum Pump Question

Ive recently had an issue with my 14 FiST(http://www.fiestastforum.com/forum/threads/17680-Please-help!, link provided because long story lol). I've taken off the vacuum pump that is located next to the camshaft and connects to it as well. I am very curious and confused as to whether or not this piece that connects to the camshaft is supposed to have play in it. I know that sliding up and down is normal, however I can rotate the piece any way I want to. I do not know if this is a normal, if not then this seems to be the source of my troubles, if it is normal, I am back to square one.

That would be the drive keyway. When you say it rotates, does it rotate independent of the shaft it is on, or does the shaft turn with it.

The shaft rotates with it. However it feels loose and has a lot of play in it. It's hard to explain how it has play but I can wiggle it a lot and it doesn't seem like this should be happening.

Hmm. I don't have anything to compare it to unfortunately. But, I'd bet it isn't supposed to wiggle.
