You crack me up:)

Back on topic, reading plugs has become more involved than I am used to but I still like to see a nice tan tint. Mine looked nearly identical until I ran the Torco runs today, more gray where things matter the most. I am going to pull mine in the AM and check them out with my led lighted looking glass;)

Why not use Bosch Fusion Spark Plugs?
Then you should not need to index them.

I did not know about them, just went with what was mentioned in the site here, maybe they are not the best for boosted engines?

Indexing is supposedly done to keep the air coming past the plugs from blowing on the spark.

Anybody tried the Bosch plugs?

Very novel, but the charge will always choose the path of least resistance. Could those work?

I just swapped in my IKV22s yesterday, with my first tank of Torco. Vdyno suggests that I gained 8hp from those two things. I am still picking up knock on #2 though, must be false knock?!

I look a lot of Bosch products, but their spark plugs have never done anything but screw me.

4.5 hour spark plug change in an LT-1 camaro? Put bosch's in it and had to take them right back out.

Bosch platuims in my 5.0L swapped jeep? Went to the dyno and after changing them the next day, it felt like it gained 30hp ( changed to auto-lite plugs that were 98cents ). Bosch's were 4k miles old

What octane are you running, pt or qt per ten gallons, etc?


Bosch is a customer of my business so I will not say to much but I have some very very good products from them but maybe they just did not get the right people doing the plug part of the business.

I would have lost my mind. Those Camaro plug changes are a beeeoooccchh, lol

It was those "Platuim 4" plugs with the 4 prongs were the ones that got us on the camaro. They were like $105 too !!

I've pretty much sworn off "spark plug technology" since

Lol. Give me normal cooper plugs every 15k miles and everyone will be happy

I agree with SourSkittle. Copper or normal iridiums. I wouldn't even bother indexing unless you are anal retentive and looking for that .5hp, or born before 1960 and know what a carb is and swear at your TV remote.

I've tuned 800hp 4cyl's on standard non-indexed plugs.

Gap them correctly, install them correctly, go about making power. It's probably the easiest thing to do on a motor, well, on an inline 4 cyl at least.

Again, indexing is a waste of time unless you where born before 1960, yell at your TV remote or drive 8valve 4cyls designed in the 70's, or you are anal and want every .5 hp on your street or HPDE car.

If you disagree, I'm all ears and eyes to see data proving otherwise on a modern 4cyl 16valve twin cam, spark plug in the middle of the combustion chamber, engine. I want to see the return on investment. From my experience, I have not.

I not saying I disagree or agree, the only way to test this indexing theory that may show a measured difference would be a engine dyno IMO.
As far as the ECO-Boost engine goes with its direct injector and bowl shape in the piston crown there may be a optimum position to face the spark plug gap.
What I do think is that people are entitled to their option and respect unless your just having a friendly dig, what do you say ;)

With the open face of the plug pointing towards the intake valve, its going to have to spark while being hit with 26psi. Its like trying to light a match in a 5,000mph wind storm, lol. I could def see the benefit on the old escort head. PS: I loved my 1.9L escort 5-speed !!

Since indexing the plugs is not a tough job nor that costly if you buy extras and sell what you do not need why not optimize them the best you can?

I noticed a change immediately in a timing issue on cyl #1, it went away.

Now more overall timing can be added which should result in more power, faster spool, a better balance of power out of each cylinder, etc.....or just the peace of mind I did things to the best I could do even if the gain is minimal, worth it for the little effort it took.
