Hello folks:

Just thought I'd throw these out for your planning calendars. I'm hoping to attend both one way or another. If you all land there as well, GREAT! We can connect, if not no worries.

Olympus Rally: That's happening up in the foothills near Shelton May 14 and 15 (ish). I'm not technically planning to attend the rally event per se. That weekend Turn 2 and Audi are having track days at The Ridge. I'm hoping to attend one or both of those days. Turn 2 is actually running track days May 13 and 14. Not sure I could do 3 straight days, but you never know. That'll be my first visit to The Ridge, so a mellow first day would be nice. Get to know the track and build speed. The cool thing about that weekend is that, according to Turn 2 organizer Tom Pritchett, the rally teams stage in The Ridge paddock. Would be interesting to see some of those cars.

Global Rally Challenge: Returns to Seattle area Sept. 16 and 17. This time, they'll be set up at the Evergreen Speedway in Monroe. It's a lot easier for me to get there vs. Dirt Fish, so I'm happy. I'll probably be there with a couple of friends for Sept. 17.

This is not a call for a formal meetup, but if folks are there, might be nice to say hello.

YMMV.

Hey kids!

Early Bird tickets are still available to the GRC event at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe.

Friday Sept. 16 and Sat. Sept. 17. I'll be at the Saturday event.

Ford powers the GRC lights and 600 HP AWD Fiestas compete with the evil VW bugs of Scott Speed and Tanner Foust.

Chime in here if you can make it.

$25 for Saturday Early Bird. I think that deal ends to night (Sunday 8/14) at 8 p.m. At least that's what an email said that I got from the Audi guys.

We could try to connect in the parking area, although that could be a challenge with no official thing set up with GRC or Ford.

Tickets and info: http://redbullglobalrallycross.com/events/2016-season/seattle-wa/

I remember when the Olympus was on the WRC calendar back at the tail end of the Group B days, but sadly, not even all of the regular teams contesting the championship showed up for those rounds. :(

We REALLY need to get the WRC back into this country once again!!

I will not have a car for the Atlantic City round of GRC so that one is out. [bigcry]

I would rent a car, but in this area at least, they REQUIRE a credit card to do so, and I only have a debit card (don't believe in credit cards), and they don't care if you have $50K in the checking account covering the debit, AND leave the full value of the rented car as a deposit, they STILL will not rent to you! [mad]

BTW; those GRC Lights engines are cool little ITB injected, NA SCREAMERS, similar to, albeit a half a liter bigger displacement than the power plants in the old Cossie headed Escort Mk.x RWD rally cars! [cool]

Yeah, I just WISH that the Blue Oval had the TONS of coin to POUR into this series that V.A.G. does (for drivers AND R&D costs), as well as the WRC itself, so that maybe they could kick some VDub ass for once, instead of the disappointing (for Ford fans) runaway both series have become. [:(]

Now Honduh has also decided to dump many millions into their GRC program as well, so that when VDub gets sick of winning, and leaves the series, they will take over with the best drivers, and most co$tly, highly developed cars in the series (just like Toyota plans on doing to the WRC in the near future). [mad]
