A question for those who tune these cars (any and all);

Does E10 93 octane (about the only thing we can get around here with ANY corn juice at all in it) give any more power at all in a given tune vs. just straight pure petroleum 93 octane (ZERO E), or is it just way too small a concentration, and any gains seen would be less than even dyno variance? [dunno]

In other words, is a mixed E30 blend the lowest one could go on ethanol concentration and get any power benefits at all??

Considering that it's very hard to get pure pump gas anymore, E10 has basically become the norm. Once tuned, the advantage is that you can run a 93 octane map as opposed to a 91 map. Or, E85 (E30) is also an option with the proper tune.

So, when tuners say a 93 octane map, they just take for granted that you are running the 93 E10, and do (or do not?) tune considering that small ethanol content? (And yes, it is the ONLY way we can buy premium fuel around here, no ZERO E, 'pure' 93 available anywhere.)

Almost all gas in the 50 states is regulated to have (up to) 10% in ethanol, unless local/state laws vary or you are at a "pure gas" station. So yes, almost every tuner now is taking into account the small amount of ethanol that will be inherent in almost all pump fuel.

Anyone pursued this option? What advantage is their with/without tune? I have a 93 tune (Livernois) and am really just local driving. I remember a similar thread during my Mazdaspeed/forum days, but cost and distance never made any sense (no tune on the speed anyway...).

Turbocharged engines like ethanol. More power can be had from E10 compared to E0 gasoline.

Hmmm... My only convenient options are 93 E10 or 91 ethanol free. I was curious which was the better route.

I do have E85 available, but with the amount of commuting I do, having to play the mixing game isn't very practical.

Everything you would ever want too know used to be on the first page. It's now getting buried from stuff asked by the kid in the airport limo van in "Home Alone"
