Advice on Using Braided Oil Cooler Lines – Worth It?

Hey everyone,

I’m considering upgrading to braided oil cooler lines for my setup and wanted to get some feedback from those with experience.

Are they really worth the extra cost over standard rubber lines? I’m mostly interested in reliability, heat resistance, and any installation tips.

Also, any recommendations on good brands or fittings that don’t leak would be appreciated.

Planning to run this on a street/track combo car, so durability under pressure is key.

Have you noticed any real-world performance or longevity benefits with braided lines?

For an oil cooler it's hard to realize any of the supposed benefits of braided steel hoses. The maximum oil pressure they should ever see is only 60 psi, and rubber hoses can easily withstand 5 times that, if not more. If your car's oil pressure reaches even 80 psi something is probably wrong. Likewise, engine oil shouldn't be reaching any temperature that would give a rubber hose any trouble. That really leaves only abrasion resistance as an advantage for the steel braid. But your oil cooler shouldn't be moving and there shouldn't be any moving parts near the hoses.
