New Fiesta ST & 996 turbo owner!

Hey guys,

Just picked up a 2016 Fiesta ST. Shadow black w/ Smokestorm Recaro pkg. MSRP was 23,840 and I got it for under 20k! First impressions are I need to lose a bit of weight to fit in the seats better , but the thought that keeps entering my mind is go kart...
I am very surprised how stiff the suspension is (good thing) and how good the brake pedal and steering feel are. Clutch is a bit light for my liking and would like a slightly heavier gas pedal, but overall the car is great! Looking forward to taking it to some track days.
I also am a new owner of a 2002 996 turbo, 6 speed . Perfect combo of cars for me.

Looking forward to joining this forum and learning more about the FiST!

I'll post some pics of the Fiesta soon, although since it is completely stock, you can google it!

Also, took the Fiesta to a car control clinic at Pacific Raceways, which is a prerequisite to HPDE's. I was amazed at how well the car performs. Brakes are great, very very little understeer. The instructors were really impressed with the car (BMW CCA event). Looking forward to getting it out on the big track!

Hey man! Welcome. I see you are relatively local to the Seattle area. Maybe I'll see you out at a track day. You gotta get up to The Ridge. It is a GREAT venue. If you're interested, PM me and maybe we can coordinate. I'm planning to get out with Cantrell Motorsports July 30 and then with the Audi kids for a back to back event in August (8/19 - 8/20). All at the Ridge. BUT: I'm very finicky about weather. No rain. The SCCA half-day events are also cool up there at Shelton -- small run groups, low cost, easy out and back same day, includes a novice group for first timers at The Ridge.

You gonna get that 996 out to the track too?

Also: If you need a Porsche shop, Colin Cantrell's crew is one of the best in the Seattle area.

Hey! I really do want to get out to the ridge. I have heard great things! I will probably have to limit the amount I do for the rest of the season, as I have a wedding to pay for, but I am hoping to get out a bunch next year.
As far as the 996 goes, I don't think ill be tracking it, as much as I want to. Parts and tires are just too expensive for me to run when I have a fairly capable FiST to drive instead. I did use Cantrell for my first service and gt2 slave cylinder upgrade. Great shop!

LOL. I know right? I suspect that there was a lot of sentiment regarding the 996 front end looking like the first gen Boxter. Sniff. The 996 somehow was diminished by adopting that look in the eyes of the true believers.

Yep. And I love the snobs for that reason. They've made the 996 an incredible bang for the buck car.

I actually like the look (turbo, 4S only). I do have to say the 997 turbo looks better, but for the price, the 996 is hard to beat. I would honestly say the Fiesta is just as fun to drive though. Can't wait to get some modifications done..

Yeah. It is a fun car, but oh my, a well-driven Carrera is a revelation on the track. A poorly driven one is a heap of scrap metal balled up and towed away (or is a speed bump).

Sold the 996. Long story, but started with an offer that was too good to refuse. Turned into getting rid of the car and breaking even lol. On to modding the Fiesta!
