Collins Performance Engineering Actuator - Stock and Custom tune (Euro spec)

Hi,

I have been considering upgrading to a Collins actuator to supplement my tune and have spent some time reading up on pros and cons.
They require the actuator to be set up to start opening at 7.5-8 PSI. I think the stock actuator starts opening at at 4.5-5 PSI and is fully open at 7 PSI, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
From what I have read, the consensus seems to be that any changes from the default actuator would require a tune for sustained safe operation of the engine.

I contacted Collins and asked them if it would be 100% safe to use this actuator with factory software if i ever needed to, and their reply was: "The CP Actuator will work with the standard tune and standard factory software - However it will work better with a software that has been written to work with the part such as our CP2-E software."

I expect Collins Performance, being a reputable company here in Europe would not say that it was safe if it were not true. They have a long history with tuning Ford's and a good reputation to consider. They are in the business of selling car modifications though, so I prefer validating any claims made with someone outside of the company selling the hardware when researching upgrades.

Based on what I have read, changing to a stiffer spring actuator on stock software could put the engine at risk by confusing the ECU with big boost spikes and possibly overspinning the turbo.

I do not have the technical knowledge to validate or discredit these claims, but they are counter to most of the stuff I have read about uprated actuators on the 1.6 Ecoboost engine. This is why I created this post, I need someone more qualified to take a look. If anyone with solid knowledge on this subject could help give me some advice I would be very grateful. My top priority in the end is keeping my engine healthy and operating within safe parameters. I am currently on mostly stock hardware except a Turbosmart Kompact EM Plumb Back VR2 BOV due to very strict regulations on car modifcation in my country, running the CP2-E tune from Collins Performance.
