Ford Debuts Escort Sedan for China

I kind of like the look more than the Fiesta sedan.

Hard to get a handle on size, etc. in this. I get the impression it's a bit bigger than the Fiesta, maybe even bigger than the Focus, so would be between the Focus and the Fusion.

Once upon a time I drove a Ford Escort. Not a great car, mine. But it got me where I needed to go for a couple years. I doubt they're gonna get me back in one.

From Ford's press release: They're looking to get into "a perfect position to serve Chinese customers looking for an alternative and attainable compact car." . . . and satisfy the "many Chinese customers in the compact car segment [that] want a sedan that places a premium on exceptional interior space, outstanding storage and great practicality."

There ya go: alternative, attainable, practical. And it's built on the same platform as the Focus, already a big-selling model in the PRC. And it's brown. Mao would've loved it.

It's supposed to be bigger than the Fiesta but smaller than the Focus. I wonder why there is a market for all three cars in China but not here.
