So one my friends has a focus and I thought it was just a normal 2.0L focus with a 5 speed. She asked me to do an oil change on it. Was trying to figure out why the focus has a 2.3L had heated seats, sunroof/moonroof whatever they want to call it, traction control, and rear disc brakes. So I typed in the VIN on the the Epicor software and it pulled up a 2005 Ford Focus ZX4 ST. I never heard of such a trim when it came to these focuses. So weird. For having 200K on it and out of the other focuses in that body style I've driven, this has to be the smoothest one I have ever driven.

More popular than you think. I have seen quite a few of them. I believe it only existed in the sedan body style.

Not bad for the time, I did not know about the ST moniker back then. It used the Mazda 150 HP 2.3L engine. Handling was a joke at .81G and fuel economy was lacking. I think the part ownership of Mazda by Ford provided lots of engines and small pick-ups for Ford. But the engines were something less than high performance and the good high performance Mazda engines were never offered to Ford.

PRICE AS TESTED: $19,865 (base price: $18,250)

ENGINE TYPE: DOHC 16-valve inline-4, aluminum block and head, port fuel injection

Displacement: 138 cu in, 2261cc
Power (SAE net): 151 bhp @ 5750 rpm
Torque (SAE net): 154 lb-ft @ 4250 rpm

TRANSMISSION: 5-speed manual

DIMENSIONS:
Wheelbase: 103.0 in Length: 175.2 in
Width: 66.9 in Height: 56.3 in
Curb weight: 2816 lb

C/D-TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 7.9 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 23.2 sec
Street start, 5-60 mph: 8.5 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 16.1 sec @ 86 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 120 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 191 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.81 g

FUEL ECONOMY:
EPA fuel economy, city driving: 23 mpg
C/D-observed fuel economy: 22 mpg

My 2008 Mazduh 5 has the anemic 2.3. The only saving grace is the manual-matic trans when I need to move. It's a great hauler though! It's hauling me to STOA in April.

I've owned more Mazda's than any other make.......reliable as can be. The one fav was a 1989 323 GT, turbo I4 1.6 L 138HP in the sedan W/IRS and super suspension. Only imported 800 and at over $10K were not cheap, loved that car, ate BMW's for lunch!

Intake tumble flaps like to eat engines. Also the rods were spaghetti noodles. Other than those two things, and the alternator being in a horrendous location. And the love eating flex pipes. They are good cars.

I had an '84 B2000 that hauled a 19' Sea Ray bowrider...no problems. I added a Centerforce Clutch and P Plate to it just to be sure. It was a great little truck.

Theres a magical intake manifold off a 2.3 escape that doesnt have the flaps but is still dual stage. keep torque under 230ish at the wheels and stock rods are ok, no more room to grow unfortunately. and agreed on the alt, not fun lol

Yeah, fords solution to keep the alt from cooking itself was nothing more than a vacuum cleaner attachment. Thay would force feed the alternator water once its raining, lol. A nice built rod and piston combo and the sky in the limit. Esp. If you use a 2.5 block and head from a 4 cylinder fusion, and a 2.3 ranger crank. Youre on your own for making vvt work or not.

I had a focussport focus ( before they became fswerks) in forza 2. People hated racing me in A class. Lol, it was a 400 hp fwd exotic killer. Id love to build something similar irl.

Only forza2. They had shop cars you can own and race. I played the game so much i had to replace the disc. Lol. ( IMO forza2 is still the best one for cars, forza3 for tracks)

Been since PlayStation Gen1 and still play the newest Gran Turismo almost every day on ps4. Best thing is playing on hard with A Ferrari F40 Tuned out ...weight down....Racing tires on soft through the Nurburgring mid day in the Sun.

Ive been on both consoles. I stopped with xbox when the gamers became trolling griefers and couldnt handle losing to car with less prep.

I have a force feedback wheel with pedals I'm going to mount to an old car seat to make it more realistic and start playing the gt series again.
