Hatch pops open when locking car

Woke up to a new issue with my 2017 Fiesta ST. Hatch will close, but pops open when attempting to lock the car. Doesn’t make a difference if I’m locking it from the FOB the door button or inside the car. Also happens when I start driving the car and it auto locks, meaning the hatch is bouncing around and interior lights are on while driving. The other thing I noticed is that every time I try to lock or unlock the doors using the fob the rear window wiper moves two inches each time either button is pressed. Rear wiper is also not working and I hear a relay clicking noise every time I try to activate it.

This is probably way off base, but whenever I hear about weird electrical issues I wonder if the person has a weak battery. I have read about all sorts of seemingly unrelated issues being caused by that. I think what happens is that as the battery gets weaker it prioritizes main functions and shuts off or reduces power to less critical functions. If your battery is old and close to needing replacement anyway that might be a good place to start, just to eliminate one possible cause.

That was one of my thoughts this morning. I’ve had weird issues like this with previous cars when the battery starts to die. I’ll get it checked tonight after work.
