Honestly what is the Fiesta ST?

So I just got my 2016 Fiesta ST a couple weeks ago and I bought it to be fast and it is just as fast as other sports cars. But Here's my logic

People say it kinda looks like a Honda Fit
But it handles and accelerates like a BRZ or 370z

So what is the car trying to be?

I think, just my humble opinion, it's whatever you want to be , a daily , a rally cross , a tuned beast , for me it's just a garage queen that sees some action on nice days when I'm off work , that to me a the beauty of this machine , can be interpreted very widely

Well I can tell you one thing. Owning both a 370z and a FiST it accelerates nothing like a 370z. A BRZ maybe. But not even close to a 370. Not even stage 3.

But it is whatever you want it to be. To me it's an overly exciting daily. That carries surf boards, groceries, paddle boards, etc.

I think it's in a category of one. Nothing in the US is similar to it's combination of horsepower, light weight, drivetrain layout
(not for the better, mind you), handling and braking ability and price. It's not a high quality product for sure, but it's very good at a few things. Honestly I think we'd have been happier with something the size of a Focus ST but they were just a bit out of our price range.

I can't see how this car compares to anything with a RWD layout. A RWD car literally goes about it's business entirely different regardless of performance numbers. Neither is inherently a lot better or worse to me, just different in their execution.

It's a hot hatch (sporty version of an economy car). Definitely not the first of it's kind.

Think of the VW GTI, Peugot 205, Fiat 500 Abarth, civic type R, Escort Cossworth, Sierra Cosworth..

For me, it's my only car and daily driver. I need to have a bit of fun driving wherever I'm going rather than driving any number of numb boring cars out there now. It's a practical car to daily on my own because I don't need much space (but it has more space than coupes such as the FR-S), makes decent gas mileage for the performance it also puts out, it's fun to drive, and doesn't cost a ton to purchase or insure. It accelerates and handles better in stock form than my modified ZX2 ever did.

It would also make a good daily for someone that has a weekend/track higher powered car.

It can rally, daily, track, baby, carry some groceries, your significant other and a dog or two, maybe?

For me its an economical alternative to the 4WD Jeeps I drove for years. Took out the back seats, built a bed, haul whatever gear I need for work and play. Plus fun to drive.

Then I tracked it.

Now its my race car in econobox clothing. Each time I get close to mastering it, I add some performance mod and learn to drive again. I hope this never ends.

Ah the Sierra Cosworth... now that was the blue collar hooligan car I lusted after in my teens [driving]

And maybe, just maybe, the FiST is the most driving fun you can buy at that price point!

IMO, the FiST meets the true definition of a Sports Compact vehicle. It's very compact, sporty, nimble, turbo & 6-speed with numerous aftermarket product manufacturers to back it up for both on & off-road use.
And the best "Bang for the buck under $25k" to new car purchasers.

For me, my FiST is exactly what I wanted in a new car. It's a useful daily driver that won't bore me to death on my commutes, it won't cost me an arm and a leg at the pump, and on the weekends I can take it out on the back roads and let loose. It really is the total package as far as I'm concerned.

Pretty simply a hot hatch.

But for me, it's a dream come true. My previous cars were cars of necessity. This car is finally something I actively wanted, and now I'm dumping too much money into it making it even better haha. Hopefully it lasts me many years, it's a hell of a lot of fun to drive, is small for the city, and gets good gas mileage. Couldn't ask for anything more.

Well, other than better build quality, but that's Ford for you.
