I have a 2017 fiesta st, I just bought it in January and 2 weeks after the ESC light would come on every morning and I wouldn’t have electric assisted steering. After I drove about 3-5 minutes it would fix itself the light would go off and steering would return. I brought it to ford with their fancy scan tools and they found a “loss connection to steering module code” but couldn’t find anything that was causing it. The ended up saying “it’s the cold weather and it’s normal on these cars. It’s not the cold weather!! I started thinking if it’s not a mechanical part something else is messing with it. Turns out all the car needed was a front end alignment. Everything was off especially caster. Problem is completely fixed now.
