Junkyard Focus SVT caliper bracket wear

After getting most of the rust off rear caliper brackets I noticed that there are divits where the pads slide on the bracket. They are similar to what is seen in this picture but not as bad:

Can I just slowly file the surface down until smooth or is this even a big issue?

I think it would be better if you had them media blasted.
Then you could paint or have them powder coated.

I would smooth it down like you propose. The pad is already displaced slightly towards the hub anyways, might as well make certain it has its full range of motion in order to prevent any hang ups & uneven wear. There would be plenty of material left so you would not be weakening anything.
