Which mityvac product are you referring to?
I have a Motive Power Bleeder and also a generic harbor freight hand vacuum pump.
The motive power bleeder is similar to the Mityvac "European Pressure Bleed System" MV6844. It appears to have a threaded section which screws onto the master cylinder. The size of the master cylinder cap varies car to car. This product pushes pressurized brake fluid into the master cylinder. You can then open up each brake bleeder to bleed the system. The Motive Power bleeder does a better job pushing out the air, but I find it a bit slow and it ends up wasting brake fluid. You need to have a minimum fluid level in the pump so that you aren't sucking/pushing air.
The generic hand vacuum pump pulls fluid/air at each brake caliper. It can be a bit faster, but you are sucking through a brake bleeder. When you unscrew the bleeder, it can pull air from around the bleeder screws. You may introduce a small amount of air into the system. It's more difficult to do with loose threads.
I've also tried Russel brake bleeders with integrated check valves. I didn't find these worked the best.
