So I bought an mtune handset with mp215 on it from a post here. Still have the warranty for another 3 years and wanna keep it that way if I can. I am planning to buy the induction kit from mountune as the two have to be installed as a kit per mountune's warranty guide.

Anyone have any experience working with mod friendly dealerships in the SC, NC, or VA area thatd be willing to sign off on the warranty paperwork even though I didnt go through ford or mountune to get the handset?

As far as I know Ford and Mountune no longer offer the warranty feature for that mod. But then again....maybe some dealer would honor it.

Spoke to mountune today and they gave me the impression as long as I got it signed off by the dealership I'd be good to go. Either way there are about 5 ways to interpret their document and none of it gives me a lot of faith. Just want to give myself the best chance of avoiding issues with any future claims.

Crossroads Ford of Cary where I purchased my car also installed my MP215 back in 2014. They were familiar with the Ford Racing Performance warranty registration process. They literally had to call some guy at Ford to register the VIN number.

Remember, the idea with Mountune was that if anything happened with the Powertrain because of the MP215 kit, Ford wouldn't pick up the tab, rather Mountune would (under Ford Racing Performance brand I believe). This is no longer the case IIRC and they are no longer honoring these.

"This Performance Packs and Components Limited Warranty begins upon installation and registration of the part(s) with Ford Performance and remains in effect for the balance of 36 months or 36,000 miles / 60,000 kilometres, whichever occurs first, calculated from the start date of the manufacturer's New Vehicle Limited Warranty." From the sounds of this, even if they did still honor the warranty, I'd be SOL as the car is past 36 months from original purchase and long past 36,000.

Bought the car CPO so I still have the warranty for another 3ish years/50,000 miles on the powertrain. Will probably just have to give up my dreams of being tuned till the end of the warranty gets a little closer, especially since my trans has started acting a little funny.

What is your trans doing? Trans seems to be weak point in some cars....input shaft bearing failures aren't uncommon with early builds. Def get that fixed under CPO before tuning :)

Nothing too bad, just started feeling a bit more resistance going into 1st and reverse and a little more noise than when I bought it. Did a drain and fill with 2L of the Ravenol stuff (based on everyone's reviews I was expecting a noticeable difference in shift feel but feels the same) and the fluid coming out looked clean so I'm not too worried. Just paranoid based on others' experiences.

What year is your car? From what you said it sounds like it's newer than a '16. Leaving aside the question of whether you would be covered getting the handset and the induction kit separately, the warranty only applies for cars through the 2016 model year.
mountune MP215 Performance Upgrade Fiesta ST 2013-2016

Application
Ford Fiesta ST 2013-2016*
California Air Resource Board Executive Order D-727-3
*This product is also compatible with 2017-2018 Fiesta ST but is not covered under the Ford Performance warranty program or California Air Resource Board Executive Order D-727-3.*

Also, welcome, this is a really fun car. As you can see from my signature I have the Mountune MP215 tune, and it has been a nice little extra bump in power. I am close to you in Chapel Hill, if you have any questions about the car feel free to get in touch.

It actually is a 2016. Bought it CPO so it retains the original manufacturer warranty which the paperwork says covers the powertrain for 7 years or 100,000 miles (from original purchase date).

That's good to know, I hope you can get Ford Performance to cover you. I bought my car new from University Ford in Chapel Hill, and had them install the tune for me about a year later. They seem fairly flexible about things. They don't seem to do a lot of performance work, but had installed the Mountune kit along with some other parts on at least one other car.
