mountune MRX Cylinder Head - 1.6L EcoBoost

Application
Fiesta ST 2013-2019
The mountune MRX Cylinder head upgrade for the 1.6L EcoBoost (Fiesta ST) features dyno and flow bench tested improvements that produce maximum reliable power across a wide RPM range. Each cylinder head is based on a new genuine Ford ST casting that is inspected before receiving a precision NEWEN valve seat profile. The throat of each port is opened up to remove obstructions and then blended into the valve seat to improve flow.

Each head is then ultrasonically cleaned before assembly by one of our motorsport professionals using Supertech High Performance Valves along with upgraded valves springs matched to our camshafts. This head is ideal for those running a larger than stock turbocharger.

The head ships completely assembled with valve lash set using all new cam followers and ready to install on you engine.

Features:
Intake airflow is improved by 51% and exhaust air flow is improved by 24% compared to an otherwise stock 1.6L EcoBoost Cylinder head.
Intake valve seats feature multi angle profile, Exhaust valve seats feature radiused profile.

  • Increased power and torque
  • Assembled from all new parts, no core is required
  • Dyno and flow bench proven

Camshaft Features:

  • Power Band 2000-7000 rpm
  • Intake Duration 260° (OE Duration 228°)
  • Exhaust Duration 244° (OE Duration 212°)
  • Intake Valve Lift 8.64mm (OE 7.59mm)
  • Exhaust Valve Lift 7.32mm (OE 6.19mm)

I bought a new Ford head for $957 after taxes along with the Mountune V2 cams and springs on sale for $699 which Mitch Levy assembled onto the Mountune short block which I got for like $2100 or so. No cnc radii blends into my valve seats though. Add in labor and parts and you can have a Mountune engine minus cnc blended radii for not much more than this head.

Well maybe a little more lol but it’s food for thought if anyone is pulling their stock engine.

Core return on the head is $200 and if your short block is in decent shape you can make some more money back.

This (despite the wallet raping) is GREAT news for those looking for every little bit on a maxed-out, already aux-fueled/E50 tuned/methed, big turbo setup. [thumb] [driving]

But I wonder just how much more it would give a hybrid/smaller hairdryer setup. [dunno]

I know the mountune head has a couple of other features to it but I wonder how it compares to the PumaSpeed race ported cylinder head? There is quite a but of price difference between them.

Well 51% more intake airflow and 24% more exhaust flow sounds substantial. Paired with my ported log I’m sure I’d feel it. Who’s a math nerd in here? We need some numbers crunched 🤓

$1900 USD with a new head but no V2 cams and springs. Extra porting for another $100 or so.

Mountune’s head also has new Supertech valves ($378) and new cam followers which are probably an upgrade over stock as well. But no extra porting which a small 1.6 turbo head would probably only see minimal gains anyway
