Need Advice On Tire Choice

Hi,

My stock tires are just about done and I'm looking to get some replacements. My issue is that I need something that will last me a while, I drive about 30k miles a year, and don't want to have to swap out tires twice a year. I got about 25k out of my stock tires, I would ideally like to get around 40k+ out of the replacements. I live in socal, so I don't need anything for snow. I was looking at some UHP-AS tires, but am not sure where to go. I know I will lose some performance, but I don't want to sacrifice too much as most of my commute is a curvy canyon road. Just looking for some recommendations. Thanks

AS/3s are good. But I'd vote on Continental DWS if you get any snow. The new DWSs (I can't think of their name) are much better than the outgoing model in wet/dry traction. I think they will be my next tires.

Rarely ever see any snow, so not too worried.

I got 23,000 miles out of a set of Dunlop Direzza DIIs (non star spec) and I never even rotated them. They were pretty noisey on the highway though. I took my OEM wheels and tires off at 2,000 miles so not sure about how long they last. I had to put them back on for a spell... I just know the DIIs are better in every way possible (although in all fairness they are 215 width v.s. the stock 205 size). I'm now on DII Star Specs. The non star specs had a wear rating of 180 and these new ones have a 200 rating. As for mileage, I guess it boils down to how you drive your car.

^ 2nd this. Might as well step up to a 215 for a little more grip. Star Specs are great, AD08's also.

I've had the Comp 2s on for just over 10k and it looks like they are gonna wear forever compared to the Dunlops.

BFG gForce Sport Comp2.
These are what I just ordered, after the OEM kicked the bucket around 25k, same as OP. I could have squeezed out enough time to put the winters on, but I picked up a nail too close to the sidewall.

I had both the Michelin Pilots and Continental DWS' on my Civic Si. Used them all year round and had great dry, wet and snow performance with both models. Would have liked a little softer compound for cooler dry weather, but as you are looking for increased lifespan for your tires, the recommendations above are solid. Good Hunting.
