I've just bought a new Ford Fiesta st, and I managed to get big discounts due to it being end of year sales. With the left over money i saved on the car i was looking to tune it almost straight away, and also get an exhaust fitted! What's out there for performance I want to go big!

To start, an effective intercooler, drop-in filter and a lifetime tune package from Adam at www.adamtuned.com will be the best bang for your buck. There are tons of cat back options to choose from...do you want 2.5" or 3"? Loud or tame?

When you want to take things a step further, I highly recommend the Pumaspeed X-37 turbo. I'm loving mine so far.

What he said. I would only add getting your Cobb AP from Modbargians as they have the best price I've seen. For the intercooler, Depo Racing is the best bang for buck.

Welcome Aboard.

You must realize that an Australian car is basically a UK model.
As almost all the parts will interchange, the ECU (PCM) is different and uses different programming.
Tuning that works in a US car will NOT work in a UK car.
You should look to the UK for tuning.

What would you recommend for a cat back 2.5 or a 3? I'm not after something ridiculously loud but I would defiantly like my st to sound louder than what it is stock.

About the x-37 turbo, did you feel a big difference in boost? Because after driving the car for about 2 weeks i can't seem to feel much or infact no boost in first gear?

I dont know about the x-37. However, it is my understanding that Ford SERIOUSLY limits the boost in first and second. Most tuners will change this without the need for a turbo change.

Get the car tuned. Ford limits boost in first gear as a way to mitigate torque steer. I noticed this when i first drover her off the lot. Once you get the car tuned, you'll notice the difference immediately. Tune and intercooler are the first mods without a doubt as they work hand in hand. You won't get much from an exhaust besides sound, particularly while on the stock turbo. I would wait till you have done other mods before doing an exhaust unless you need the noise. I drove 9 months with the stock exhaust before I installed one and then I took it off because it droned too much. Do your research on exhausts if you insist on going that route off the bat. Find out which ones don't drone. My experience is that 3" exhausts tend to drone moreso than 2.5" exhausts. I believe Revotechnik is UK or South Africa based and they tune Fiesta ST's as well as Pumaspeed. Good luck.

Put in the Rear Motor Mount. You will notice and enjoy the improved power to the ground along with the improved shifting right away. Best $150 you will spend

Funny, I have 12,100 miles on my car with stock RMM and I've never had an issue with the banging everyone complains about when shifting aggressively. It is soft now though, so I think I will finally take the plunge and get the Cobb RMM.

Modify engine, electronics, programming and suspension with the understanding that, modded vehicles on average have a much shorter life span, high incident occurrence, high maintenance costs, and lower resale values, versus those that are left stock. No insults intended, just something to keep in mind. Backyard engineer < manufacturer engineering team.

...Backyard engineer < manufacturer engineering team.
You make a great point but not always true. My manufacturer engineered front struts blew in a matter of months. My backyard engineered coilovers are doing much better. But this is also not always the case. Either way, we mod at our own peril.

False comparison #1 is defective or abused part = defective engineering.
False conflation #2 is your aftermarket part was manufactured by a "backyard engineer".

Nice try but this debate tactic is known as a "straw man".

My opinion, but personally as a daily driver in a city full of craters and high curbs, I'll take my chances with stock. I don't disagree with what you did however; given your own experiences and beliefs, it is understandable. Good luck!
