im looking to buy this exhaust paired with the whoosh catted down pipe.
my question is do I need to purchase the 3” adapter with the exhaust if Im planning to buy the Downpipe ?

In order for it to be a full 3" setup, yes. If not it bottlenecks down to 2.5 at the connection.
