Sync 3 map update?

Did anyone else get an e mail regarding a map update for Sync 3? It seems that Ford wants to charge for it? I can't imagine it being all that much improved...

They make new maps about once a year.

It appears there is more than one source for maps. This site says you can download free updates. https://ford.welcome.naviextras.com/ Scratch that. Those updates are for places other than North America.

I just checked that site with my own car info. If you have a fast connection and a large enough USB stick, you can download the update free. Or you can buy the update already loaded on a USB stick for $40. The download requires 15GB of USB storage.

Weird, that link for my car says it's $109 to download, $149 for USB.

I checked it with the VIN and ESN from my 2018 F150. I didn't figure the 2019 Fiesta I bought a month ago would need an update. Doesn't make sense that they'd charge $100 to a Fiesta owner but not charge anything to an F150.

I didn’t get the GPS on my car but did get an actual letter in the mail to update my GPS, but did not receive an email.
