Weird issue...

Every time I start my vehicle, my settings revert back to defaults. It seems as though the software does some kind of reset autonomously. I updated to 3.4 back in January of 23' and this is the first time I've run into an issue with SYNC. I've tried doing a soft reset, a master reset, checked the health of my battery, and disconnected/reconnected the battery as well. What else might work to resolve this mysterious and random issue?

How old is your battery? If it's 4 years old or older, I would consider replacing it even though you said it checked out okay. Batteries can be tricky to check out, and if it is going bad this sounds like the kind of weird random thing that can happen from a weak battery.
If it's that old it's about time to replace it anyway, and you will at least eliminate one possible cause.

Based on the troubleshooting you've done, I'd replace the battery just in case but it sounds like possibly your APIM is dying. Not holding onto memory is an indication that something is failing inside of it.

Otherwise you might try reflashing the firmware again, but you've master reset and everything so I wouldn't have high hopes for that.

Okay, I've figured it out.

I didn't realize that this specific build number has been found to have a bug after all, so my APIM will need to be reformatted in order to install a later, stable version.

Here's what the release notes say currently:

WARNING! - There’s an ongoing issue where rwdata partition is getting full, triggering some issues like settings going back to defaults and/or problems with upgrading to a different version, USE 23188 instead!

Quick update

I ended up using the "downgrade" option using the cyanlabs installer even though I updated the APIM to the latest 3.4 build (23188) from build 22251.

I just can't understand why it suddenly started bugging out 18 months after updating it to that build.

Maybe it just took that long for the rwdata partition to get full.
