I haven't noticed any other STs having the two thin black stripes on the side doors from the side mirrors to the back. I wonder if the dealer put them on but then also wonder why they would bother? Does anyone else have an ST that has the thin stripes on the top of the doors that span the entire side of the car? I have a Molten Orange that I bought yesterday.

Like these?

Those are dealer pinstripes. They usually add them as some sort of package along with other things like paint protection, rust protection, undercoating, scotch guard, etc. Usually given a title of 'VIP package' or 'Executive Package'. Almost always a rip-off. A heat gun and finger nails can sometimes take them off without damage if you don't like them.

Yep just like that. We didn't pay extra for them. Just find it interesting that the dealer would spend money to put them on. They had it sitting on the lot for 6+ months. Perhaps they thought the stripes made it look better?

Pinstripes are $20 of material and labor that the dealership feels justified in cutting you $300-500 for. As stated, it's a rip-off so never pay for it and if you don't like it then make them take it off for free before accepting the vehicle.

Yep they tried to sell me the exterior paint protection coat thing for like $600 bucks. I said no. I always say no to extended warranties etc. I just thought the stripes were strange since I hadn't seen them on any other STs. But I do actually like them...wouldn't pay extra for them though.

My dealership had the pinstripes on my FoST, which I demanded they take off. They took it off and in doing so scratched the paint. Then they got to fix the scratches for free, and because they took so long to get to it we got a free loaner and window tint.

A guy I know got the dealer stripes on his camaro. He didn't like it at all. So his dad thinking that he was a genius decided to use a drill and buffing pad or something and tried to remove it like that. Needless to say, the poor fellow now has 1 hole in his front driver side area and 2 nice big chunks of paint that were practically ripped off. So if you do remove them or if anyone wants to remove stuff like that...be very careful.
