Does anyone have the torque specs for the 4 bolts that hold the seats to the frame? I'm doing a recaro swap either today or tomorrow.

Edit:
The 4 bolts take 35Nm or about 26ft-lb

Service manual recommends throwing out old hardware and using new at all four points. Torque to 35 Nm or 25 Ft/Lb.

You’re kidding. That’s not suspension hardware, why would it need to be replaced ? This makes no sense.

My guess is that the seats are directly related to safety in an accident. Reusing bolts can be a liability from Ford's perspective if they had to do seat maintenance, the car gets into a wreck, and somehow they are found at fault for injuries because a seat bolt sheared.

Do you have info on depowering and repowering the SRS?

Given how many times I had to remove the seats for various installations, I’d have to buy these bolts in bulk. From materials performance perspective, I see no reason, especially given the relatively low torque. You are likely correct that it was some lawyers who inserted this into the service manual.

Ford really doesn’t expect the owners to do ANYTHING with their cars, considering that this language is in the *service* manual, not owner’s.

NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  1. At the BCM , located behind the glove box, remove the BCM fuse 20 (10A). Refer to Wiring Cell 11 Fuse and Relay Information for schematic and connector information.
  1. Turn the ignition ON and monitor the airbag warning indicator for at least 30 seconds. The airbag warning indicator remains lit continuously (no flashing) if the correct RCM fuse is removed. If the airbag warning indicator is not lit continuously, remove the correct RCM fuse before proceding.
  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  1. Disconnect the battery.
Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).
  1. Wait at least one minute before continuing vehicle service.
NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.

  1. Install BCM fuse 20 (10A).
  1. Connect the battery.
Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).
  1. Sit in the driver seat in an upright position. Make sure no objects are between you and the driver airbag, driver lower airbag, side airbag or side air curtain.
    Dimension : 10.0 in ( 25.4 cm)
  1. Move the driver seat to the rearmost position.
  1. Turn the ignition from OFF to ON.
    • Prove out the SRS as follows: Turn the ignition from ON to OFF. Wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition back to ON and monitor the airbag warning indicator with the airbag modules installed. The airbag warning indicator illuminates continuously for approximately 6 seconds and then turns off. If a SRS fault is present, the airbag warning indicator either fails to light, remains lit continuously or flashes.
    • The flashing may not occur until approximately 30 seconds after the ignition has been turned from OFF to ON. This is the time required for theRCM to complete the testing of the SRS . If the airbag warning indicator is inoperative and a SRS fault exists, "Airbag Malfunction Service Now" displays in the message center. If this occurs, diagnose and repair the airbag warning indicator and any SRS faults.
  1. Using a scan tool, clear all Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs) from all modules.
