Anyone just starting out. Do yourselves a favor. Figure out the extent of your mods before you pick a tuner. If unsure, I'd recommend some sort of lifetime tune package, that way you're not spending money getting retuned after every new part you put on. I've used two different tuners, & my FiST has a decent amount of mods on it done over a period of 15 months. Can you imagine getting retuned every time I added things like intake, catback, downpipe, charge pipes, turbo? I'd be broke. The Cibb OTS tunes are trash. An etune will get you way better results than Cobb stuff. You can make more power with an etune and intercooler than a stage 3 Cobb tune with downpipe and catback and intake. Waste of money. You can go aftermarket turbo for same approx price as full Cobb stage 3. Figure out how far you want to go with your FiST, then that will help you decide on a tune path.

Prepare to be disappointed
Since you do not have faith in the 'go to' tuner on this site, who do you suggest as a tuner for a 93 octane (local E10 sourced), stock turbo setup with just an upgraded IC?

(I ask this in all sincerity, straightforward, and with NO sarcasm, or snideness implied, or inferred AT ALL!)

I am starting to think it doesn't really matter who you go with lol... Just like most of the things in our aftermarket...

I couldn't help it.

If I may, what 2 tuners did you go through?

I think you're right as far as custom tuning goes; Randy, Alex, Adam etc. (sorry I don't know all of you yet), but I think it does matters for a shelf-tune.

You can only get but so much out of these little turbos, so if you're sticking wih the stock turbo, then there may not be much of a difference between tuners. So that being said, if tuner A and tuner B are offering the same service, then the deciding factor should be price. My first go around I dealt with Adam tune+. My tuning experience was pretty good and my car felt good. I don't have anything else to compare it to, so I don't know how good of a tune I got in comparison to other tuners. What got me was the lifetime tunes. I upgraded my FiST in stages like most of us do, so it was convenient tongonwih Adam. Whenever I added a part, I would do a data log and email it and I would have a new revision usually within a day. If you're sure that you are not going to be adding more parts down the road, this may not appeal to you, so go with whom you like. My current tuner is not active on this forum, so most won't know who he is. When I'm done tuning my Cyborg, I will post a build thread with dyno sheets and let him be known to all. So far the process has been great and I'm happy with my decision to go with him.

I'm torn between Tune+ and Stratified...glad I'm planning to wait a few months before I pull the trigger. Time to do some more research.

well a stratified tune only costs $50 so might be worth trying them first to potentially save yourself $100 if you like it

I am considering getting the stratified preset one... Should be the same drive ability characteristics just less power I guess... And if I like it then get the custom tune one.

Stratified is nice. I went cobb stage 1 93 octane first. It was fun but spun the tires a lot. Paid $65 for stratified + snap crackle pop... the car is faster. I spin the tires less.

As in little backfires upon deceleration?

Coming down off boost with throttle lift off is where I hear mine the most... Borla exhaust, COBB OTS tune.

I just ordered my AccessPort this morning, and bought it from Stratified just for their flash tune. Seems like the perfect solution to hold me over 'til I decide on big turbo or not.

Good choice. I may not be as power hungry as most on this forum but I'm quite happy with the car with the strat tune on a stock car
