Unsure of meaning

Hi there, I have a 2020 Fiesta St3. And I notice when driving it has the arrow and a number next to it. I was thinking this could be a suggested gear but sometimes it doesn’t seem rational. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.

I have a mk7 fiesta, but that looks identical to the suggested gear for best gas mileage on my friend’s focus. And yeah sometimes the gear ford wants you to be in doesn’t seem rational

Yes, that's the upshift light.

Yeah shift light is programmed for maximum fuel efficiency. Ignore it. Even better, get a tune and have your tuner disable it altogether

I also ignore the shift light, I feel like I would be seriously lugging the engine if I followed it.
To the OP, our US Mk. 7 STs have the upshift light, but do not suggest a gear, it's just an arrow which obviously wants you to go up to the next gear.
