Would 215/40R17 be the best choice for 17×7.5 on stock height?

Thats what I've been running for years. On my third set of 215/40s, on my second set of 17x7.5s. Stock height.

its pretty much the only choice for 17’s unless you want to roll and pull your fenders or go flares

And there is no rubbing?
I have fairly wide tread width (but not the widest) 215/40s (Federal RS-RRs) on 17x8/42ET wheels at factory ride height/stock suspension, and they have never ever rubbed even once, under ANY conditions/scenarios. [wink]

I DO wish that they did not look so 'rubber-band'-like in side wall height, but still much better than a fully stretched out 205/40 on an 8" wide wheel for sure, which results in a coating of rubber on the wheel rim type appearance LOL.

Going to a 215/45 is really pushing it, tire height/rubbing-wise, even at factory ride height.
