Well, sorry if this has been posted already but. I'm picking up new wheels tomorrow (EAP's from a focus SVT), and am curious where I should go to get my tires/TPMS sensors swapped on the new wheels. I've had issues with places not wanting to mount tires they don't sell, and I'm not buying new tires.

anyone have good luck with certain places? expecting about $100 for the service, sound about right?

I have found that just about anywhere by me will do it. Never really had a issue.

I paid $120 to swap oe tires. When removing the TPMS they just cut the vavle stems off which required replacement of $8 each.

my Ford Dealer wont do my rubber as they say the profile is too low and they don't want to deal with aftermarket wheels and rubber that low...

after i told them it was their rubber and they denied it twice, i convinced them the rubber was theirs. then they said they couldn't do it without damaging the wheels. lol useless techs.

I then went to some shitty shop with old school equipment and at first they were hesitant to do it as well then i offered to do it with/for them and i/we had no issue.

Man i need to build my garage.

So what would your dealership do if you wanted OE tires installed on OE wheels?

Go to Tire Rack or Discount Tire's website and look for installers in your area. Pick one with good reviews. You should see a cost breakdown on the website as well.

Yeah, try to find a place with good reviews.

I brought mine to a nearby Firestone thinking hey it's a big chain, they would have quality service. Wrong. They mounted the OEM tires on my new wheels just fine, but when they went to put them on the car, the careless mechanic nailed one of the wheels with a tool and took a dime sized chip out of it. The manager walked me out and tried to convince me that the wheels are poorly manufactured and the shop is not liable for the damage. I'm left with the choice to accept the damage, buy a new wheel, or have the wheel fixed/ painted. But at least the shop will install a new wheel for free! [bash]

Tire Discounters will do it, but as in all things, monitor the process. They don't always hurt the cream of the crop.

Fortunately, a family friend is a Tire Discounters GM and he took care of me. "List price" for the procedure was $120. He did mine for $28.

I bought my FiST in the middle of fall '14 and knew summer tires weren't going to cut it. I ordered Continental DWS in 205/45/17 at Sears and had them do all the work. The car had 1700 miles on it at the time, basically brand new. They chipped one wheel horribly and scratched another. They did admit fault in the end and repaired both wheels at no charge other than the inconvenience...
They were fixed by a mobile wheel repair business and have been cleaned many times since then. I no longer know which wheels were damaged!

I took a wheel from my Focus SVT to a local shop to have them swap a tire and they damaged it. Luckily, they refunded my money.

It really is a toss up where you take your wheels and tires. I will be going to my local Ford dealership next time to give them a shot.
