ZL1 Addons Rock Guards (RallyArmor and RockBlokz alternative)

Installed these last weekend. I'll agree with everyone that the instructions are horrible. The only thing I used from them is the drill bit size. What I basically did was fit these up myself as I felt was best for my needs and sturdiness.

In the rear:

I only used two of the three plastic blocks (bottom two). I also drilled out the rivet and put a screw through the hole left behind on the body and the hole provided in the guard. The top hole in the guard, instead of using the block, I used the long screw provided and went into the felt fender liner. I used all 4 holes provided, and added a 5th on the outer part parallel to the riveted hole. No 3M tape used on the rears. 5 screws should be plenty for this one.

In the front:

Like mentioned, you can use the factory hole location on the inside bottom, but it puts the guard pretty high up in the fender. Instead, I did like LilPartyBox attached his and moved it down, drilled two holes for bottom screws, 3M tape like he did, and at the top I used a long stainless screw and went into the plastic fender liner.

You'll also notice that I filled in the gaps. I used a rubber foam weather seal for this. Sticky on one side and attached to the guard. Cost about $4 at Home Depot.

I got this in the mail beginning of the week but haven't had time to install yet.

Do you have to remove the wheels to do the install?

It will make you life a zillion times easier if you do.

I am in email communication with zl1addons to see if they can make the fronts about an inch and a half longer or so.

Wish I woulda thought of foam. My set saw rain for the first time this morning. While the fronts did well, the rears are falling off already. The white blocks have unstuck. Maybe the foam would have helped
